These came in the mail yesterday, compliments of our long missing truthseeker. Many thanks for the contest and for sweetening the pot!

Nice. I love the salt series knives.

That's a scallop shell isn't it? Hard to tell without seeing the other side. Where did you get it? If you are from Georgia you probably were in my neck of the woods if you got it yourself.

I've had that shell for years. Iirc I did pick it up in your neck of the woods. The Florida gulf coast in fact. I don't know what kind of shell it is so here are some more pictures. Maybe you can tell me what it is.

Thanks for the ID, Ken.

Which Salt are you considering? The H1 is really impressive. Saltwater doesn't even touch the stuff.

The Salts are great knives, I've got one that lives clipped to my wetsuit sleeve
that has seen alot of salt and fresh water as well as sweat with zero problems.

Just curious. What model Case is that?

That Case was my edc knife for years. Bought it back in the mid 90's iirc. It's thin, light, a lockback, and the blade is just under 2 3/4". The blade does tend to tarnish so I try to keep a little minieral oil on it and use a polish as needed.

Don't mean to hijack your thread. Spyderco's H1 knives really are great and not just for saltwater environments. I edc the salt 1 frequently.

Off topic, but.... I might look into one of those Cases. I carry a little Schrade Old Timer peanut, and that Case, with the locking blade, would be a little bit of an upgrade.

Looking at it again it's not a scallop shell. I spend much of my time in probably the number 1 spot for scalloping in the big bend.

Not sure exactly what it is but it might be one of the clams that they raise around some of those parts although it's been awhile since I have seen one of the shells.

I saw you were from GA and it seems about half the license plates around there on the weekend are from GA.

Speaking of which I am heading over tomorrow for the weekend. Need to go see some of my buddies that are crabbers and get some stone crabs. Man those things are good and hopefully they are feeling generous with them. Last year one of them brought me a 50 lb box although I gave out most of them for others to try. Good stuff!

I think you'll like the case. I tried various trappers, stockman, and peanut knives before I came across the mini copperlock. Like I said above, the case became my primary edc for years. I love the blade shape. This might not be very PC, but the blade is perfect for cleaning out under your finger nails.

Enjoy your crabs. You make me jealous. And make sure you carry a Spyderco Salt knife with you. Take pictures and post a review when you get back.:)

A yellow Pacific is the one I've had my eye on.

Thanks again for offering to send me one to try out:thumbup:
