I just read something about a big show in King of Prussia PA, it's comming up in the next month or so, anybody know anything about it?

That is about five miles from me. I will look into it. I might even be able to put a person or two up for the night, if the wife OKs it. I would at least want to meet up with any forum goers for beers and/or dinner.

im assuming that king of prussia is on the eastern side of the state because ive never heard of it. depending on distance maybe ill go.

King of Prussia mall is a HUGE mall outside of Philly. Its in one of the burbs- Right off the PA Turnpike. Nice place. I certainly miss living near it.

Sincerely,
Anthony

Hmm That's about a 45 minute drive for me. I might have to consider going if I'm not completely broke at that point (not likely).

You can see the KOP mall from the turnpike. It's almost impossible to miss. It's a very nice mall, but it's still pretty small compared to Franklin Mills mall.

The Valley Forge Convention Center. It was supposed to be in March, but I've just heard (unconfirmed) that it got cancelled.

There is one in Allentown, not sure about the size of it though.

why is it that i cant find a single knife show around here, but over on that side its like oh the one at the mall got cancled oh lets just go up to allentown instead! just another reason to hate philly i guess.

King of Prussia looks like a bust. It is not on the calender at their website. It may have been and then got cancelled, but no evidence of it now.

King of Prussia sure is a mighty strange name for a town.

The town of King of Prussia was originally named "Reesville" after an early settler, Thomas Rees. The "King of Prussia Inn" was established in about 1786. There's a theory that the town was renamed by a surveyor who thought that the sign on the inn was the name of the town.

My guess is that the inn was named after Frederick the Great, who was the King of Prussia at the time that the town was founded. Many of the settlers in the area had come from Germany, so the enterprising innkeeper may have been courting their business.

It may have been coincidence, but for many years the US headquarters of Volkswagen was in King of Prussia.

There's a regular gun show held several times a year at the Valley Forge Convention center--maybe 5 minutes from the PA turnpike exit, right on Rte 202, and two competing gun shows that are often held in the Allentown area maybe 3-4 times a year. I wonder if that's what this may be?

Till 2001 there were regular gun shows held at the Fort Washington PA convention center but post 9-11 pressure forced the venue to stop. (Odd in that the ONE thing you can't blame 9-11 on is guns)

A knife dealer who does these shows told me that for a while the owners of the Valley Forge center were also going to stop holding gun shows. The place changed ownership and there were several gun shows, the biggest and best in the eastern PA area, held there. I'd hate to hear the shows are going away...

They just had a gun show a couple months ago. I don't know if it will continue or not. No knife only show though. I heard King of Prussia was renamed to honor the King who gave weapons and troops to support the Revolution. It is right next to Valley Forge, were Washington wintered one year and conditions were horrible. The park is very nice and the convention center is right next to it.

I just found the info in Knives Illustratred.

It was called The Blade, Knife and Cutlery Expo and Sale.

It said the show was at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia PA.

It was supposed to run from April 15th-17th

Here's the link http://www.thebladeshow.com/

It does say it was cancelled.

And Schnecksville is an even stranger name for a town..."Schnecke" is German for "snail".

Quiet Storm,

This area of Pennsylvania is filled with folks who decend from the early German settlers. There is something in Philly called 'The German American Club'.
