I was looking at the CRKT M21-14 the other day. It's a big knife in my opinion (just over 9 in. open). I was wondering...what's the biggest folder that you carry on a regular basis and what kind of use does it get (chopping firewood, etc). I would probably only carry a knife that big on the weekends.

The biggest I carry is a 3 1/2" Ka-Bar Large Dozier or a Buck 110.
I do with them what I do with smaller knives, cut stuff.

Chopping with a folding knife is not recommended.

I usually have this knife on me.

Its blade is 3.95" I use it for cutting things.

I'm limited to a 3 inch blade length, so most are 6.5 inches OAL or less. /sigh

Me still stabby stabby things gud wit em.

Im having Mikkel Willusmen build me a blondie with around a 5.5 in blade. Lol I like bigger knives.

I have carried plenty of bigger knives, like the BM 610 Rukus - which is over 10" unfurled. Its more like a sword than a folder. But the more EDC crap I carry, the more I have figured out that for me, I smaller knife cuts just as good (sometimes better) and saves me a lot of pocket space. But mine only gets used for general home and work utility, and some of you guys field dress mastodons and actually need a bigger knife. I'm somewhat surprised when someone says he actually need something bigger than a Buck 110, but part of the fun of carrying is trying out the different flavors and seeing what works best for you.

The biggest knife I carry on a regular basis is my BM mini-Rukus. It's not an edc, but every thursday night and most weekends in a month is regular enough, I guess. If not, then the biggest folder I carry on a regular basis would be my BM Kulgera. That might change when I get my mini-manix, but who knows? I use these knives like my others to cut things and sharpen pencils, seeing as I do not own a pencil sharpener.

largest folder i carry is a spyderco police 3. actually, it is the largest folder i own.

I carry a Chinook3 a fair bit and just missed a 50$ Rukus the other day on the CGN exchange. The Chinook3 is a big beefy folder but I usually carry it as a weapon that is useful as an EDC. It is no harder to carry than most smaller folders especially when wearing heavy clothes. However it is not much more useful as an EDC than my smaller Caly3.

The largest I currently carry, and this is by length, is a BM 610BK Rukus with a blade length of 4.25", and an overall length of 10.20". Biggest knife I carry by weight is my Strider AR at a 8.8 ounces.

I often use a grohman folder for field/camp shores - but not chopping or batoning. I'm a sucker for nickel-silver:

Thanks for the replies so far. I really was joking about chopping firewood:D

I'm thinking of purchasing another knife soon and think I'll research some of the knives mentioned here.
