Big Knives

Perhaps as a throw back to days past, I have a passion for large blades. While obviously not well suited for every day you can carry in some places and occasions. Any thoughts as to the Bowie, Arkansas Toothpick, or Scottish Dirk as a preferred defensive edged weapon?

Normally, I perfer smaller blades for defense like a good tactical folder or small fixed blade (under 5.5") but it would be nice to carry around my kukri as a defensive tool.
