Not sure which one to go for. It will be used for camping, food preparation and sometimes as a heavy duty folder. I like the looks of the mini because of the handle. and According to the catalogue, the blade of the mini is only 15mm shorter than the big manix.

What am I loosing If I go for the mini manix?
Would it be weaker than the big manix?

How mush cutting edge would I be loosing?

Here's an awesome comparison pic that Gryffin did.

Here's the thread it was in:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388002&page=2

I really don't think it would be weaker. If this isn't going to be an EDC then I'd go for the bigger one. I tried it out in a passaround and I was extremely impressed with it but it was a bit to big for me to carry around everyday.

I haven't been able to handle the Mini yet, but your needs say that "camping" and "heavy-duty" folder, go with the big guy then, though that doesn't take anything away from the Mini. I suppose the Mini would be better for urban EDC.

WoW Laceration, That really answers it. Lucky to know this forum.
Thanks Untamed

Thanks for the , Laceration! :D

Basically, you're losing a half inch of cutting edge, and a half inch of grip. If you have big hands, that extra half inch of grip would be nice, but most folks I've heard from who've tried both, actually prefer the feel of the Mini.

No way is the Mini weaker; everything is just as thick and wide as the big one, just a bit shorter.

But remember, the Mini is just as wide in the pocket as the full-size Manix. You might not like having to reach around it when you go into your pocket for your keys/change/whatever.
