Do mass manufacturers such as Buck, Gerber, Benchmade, SOG, et al. experience S30V and S35VN embrittlement more often than with other top-of-the-line stain resistant blade steels? Years ago - say the first decade of the century - archived threads appear to show large manufacturers and custom makers were having problems with these blade steels chipping or crumbling in use. Or, perhaps, this was buyers of a new product having over-the-top expectations?
Was, or is, this issue no longer an issue? Would I be correct to believe that blades made of these steels by the big manufacturers - say for the last ten years - are as reliably heat treated as less complex steels such as A-2 and O-1?
