Not sure what to really call this one, so I am just calling it a camp knife right now. And it's a big boy! :D
Oal is just shy of 15" and the blade is 10". The blade is 5160 that I gave a nice antiqued finish which has a nice look and is quite durable.
I gave it a thin, flat grind at the heal, and transitioned it into a convex grind towards the tip. This gives a keen edge towards the grip for finer tasks and more strength and weight out towards tip for tons of chopping power. The tang is tapered as well.

The handle is some really fantastic wood I got from Scott Roush. He calls it "Black Oak". It is 500+ yrs old and was salvaged from the bottom of Lake Superior. It has very cool color and figure that really doesn't show in pictures. The handle is highly polished, so it has a great "flash" in sunlight.

The sheath is heavy duty Veg tan leather. It is all hand stitched, and I gave it a "jigged" texture on the front. I think it came out pretty cool!

That is cool from the get-go and just gets better and better. Love the blade profile, the handle contours, how the blade and handle work together, the deep subtleties of the wood grain, and that jigged leather is gorgeous--very handsome.

Nice rig!

Looks like it will be up for handling intended tasks for a camp knife and look good doing them.

Thanks guys! I am pretty pleased with how this one came out. It feels very powerful in hand.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Will, I appreciate the feedback!!

Very cool, Ben, and a nice touch on the handle/grind-line intersection,

neat sheath, too.

John

Thanks John, that means a lot!!
I have a knife show coming up, so that means I take a break from doing orders and do some more creative/new designs.

I like that and I reckon it would cut and cut and cut. Love the idea of the change in edge geometry. Diggin that sheath too.
Cheers Keith

Thanks very much everyone! :D

Nice work on the knife and the sheath! I too like the plunge cut/grind line treatment, as well as the very minimal ricasso. Functional for sure.

Great package Ben.

Thanks buddy!

Thanks Salem. I don't see the point of a large ricasso, especially on a full tang knife. Unless I put in a large choil for grip options, like I did these guys. Then it just makes sense.

Thanks for the comments!
