Anybody have any? Jennifer and I are planning to get out on our boat and cruise around Lake Erie. If all goes well, we could stay tied up in the dock and I won't know the difference. Jennifer wanted to go out alone (just the two of us) but I have convinced her to let me bring along my old buddies, Jim, Jack, and Jose. She's good with that as long as Mike comes along and brings his lemonade.

Here's a great drink by the way. I invented this back in college. Its called a "Busse Brew Driver" 1/2 orange juice and 1/2 beer. . . . Now you know how I get that Carling down Anybody else out there mix their beer with anything other than pretzels?

Yours in nuclear weekends!

Aloha Jerry:

We dont mix it per se here, but beer is consumed with a variation. It is very popular to serve beer with a glass of ice, thus putting it on the rocks as it were. It sure tastes icy good that way on a hot day here. I know that this will cause apoplexy among all the beer elite......I love my fine beers served proper too.....but a good cheap beer on ice, it's the hawaii local style. Kampai!

All my idiot mountain biking friends and I are planning a night ride in the local wilderness. Trust me, you can still find deep wilderness in northern NJ. I think I'll bring my Steel Heart E along in case we see any more bears.

Lenny, right you are. I just finsihed a few days backpacking and camping on the AT for about 22 miles up past Dingmans/Layton. There were bear piles all over the place and from what I could tell, the eat pretty darned good. (Didn't find any jewelry.) I had my Natural Outlaw with me and at the ready, even (especially) in my bivy.

A buddy of mine is getting married in a week, so we're taking him out. Might have to try that drink Jerry's talking about. I actually prefer beer and tomato juice. VERY tasty, and great to drink the next morning to quench your thirst!

Beer and orange juice, beer and tomato juice....you guys are making me sick:barf:
I have big plans. I plan to work all weekend, as usual:(
I might put some lime in a Dos Equis somewhere along the way, though:D

For thirst quenching, try mixing beer & lemon-lime soda (7-Up). Works surprisingly well. IIRC in England it's called a "shandy" and in Germany it's "radler". The sweetness of the soda takes off some of the sharpness from the beer. Especially cheap beer. :)

As for the weekend, I'll probably be playing with my Basic 7 chopping up some more of those Napoleonic bushes along the fenceline. They are Napoleonic in that they have designs on taking over the world, starting with my backyard first. Otherwise, it's just ticking items off my running "household chores needing to be done" list. On Monday (Labor Day) we'll probably do some BBQ (Oh Boy, a chance to slice meat & chop veggies with a Busse!!) and relax on the deck. I've reached the age where my life is more about "Chaise" than "Chase". ;)
