In another thread, I mentioned a great old Schrade Display case I picked up at a flea market. Here it is. It was only $20... but oh yeah, you guys know what a 'money pit' is, don't cha? Get this... the seller's wife had been storing Beenie Babies inside it! What an insult to a once and still great American Knife company!

That blue had to go. Red, a nice, bright, cherry red, seems to be right. So I've been a painting. Added some lites to the underneath of the shelves as well. You know how it is, looking for a pair of socks in the dark.

More pics as I go. Are these too large to cause any of you viewing problems?

Here it is laying down, showing the new paint and the rope lighting under the shelves. Door has been removed. I also added some casters to the bottom. It had had them once before, but been removed and for years it's just been dragged around, ripping up the bottom.

Beanie Babies? :( I think I speak for all of us when I say "good save".
P.S. Nice job!

That's quite nice!
Many of you probably know there is a cable TV show called "Pimp My Ride"........ I think I can visualize Phil hosting a new show all about rescuing and displaying older knives and accessories. Guests of course, from all of you talented forumites.

I'm thinking at least an ESPY. ;)

Bill

Great idea, Bill! An Espy? I had slightly higher hopes.

Larry, you are killing me!!! That is soo funny.

Hmmmm... That little Ty Duckie looks like the perfect testing medium for that Scrhade X-timer I was so happy with... Those Beanies just bring out the worst in me.

Trying to work some small valances in to hide the rope lites from site. Also painted some skirt boards to cover up the ripped up bottom of the display. It will never be perfect, nor a great piece of furniture, it is what it is, particle board covered with wood grain. But it will proudly show off some nice knives, Schrades and some others.

As you guys can see.... and maybe someone here can help... the 'Scrhade Dealer' sticker at the bottom is shot. I have access to an excellent printer and some great decal type paper (sticky back). I need to find a good example of one of the old 'Offical Dealer' emblems to make a new one. I think it would be a nice touch.

Back down to the basement to work on it. As Lt wrote not too long ago, words to the effect of "watch the inept, they're entertaining"
Phil

Hmm..... I can see it now

"Pimp my Schrade"

Nice reference to "socks", too!

Very nice work, Phil

That should be ... "Hire the handicapped -- we're fun to watch!"

Nice of you to drop in, Esav (other members seem to call you 'Ed', is that correct?).
Phil

That's right. Either name is OK, though.

I've liked Schrade over the years, the traditional knives mostly. The Tough Tool is a classic, also. I don't like the more modern designs as much, but it's good to see a little experimentation, and if they sell, at least they help the company.

Alright, this isn't "pimp my schrade" but I finally got the rehandle done on that SAK. Certainly a rookie effort on my part, and inlays are definitely "not my bag, baby". I used a green dymondwood, and didn't even try to do the toothpick and tweezers. Not a horrible effort for my first try, but definitely leaves room for improvement.

That´s a nice looking SAK Glenn, I hope you enjoyed making it and will enjoy using it.

Since it is now a "scout" knife, I was thinking of giving it to my son. He already has a cub scout knife, but by golly, his doesn't have a mag. glass in it, does it?

Thanks for the nice words, guys.
