So, I've dealt with the 3.5" blade limit here long enough to be annoyed by it. I let tilts, 0600s, customs, and several other wonderful knives go to the sale pile because I couldn't carry them legally.

Oklahoma? You're hard-pressed to find a knife too big. 5.5" blade length limit.

So, I'm looking for a monster. Something big, solid, under $300, no serrations, no springs, and decent steel. I've been ignoring larger knives for so long that I don't have a want list. It just needs to be big, plain-edged, and tanklike.

Charlie Mike. Looking at you. Help a brother out.

Ooh. ZT0801, LionSteel SR-1A, Spyderco Gayle Bradley, SPyderco Military, Hogue's EX-0x Series, Brous T4, Kizer Phantom 5401A2.

Oklahoma? Where? I'm from here as well...and you're right about no knife being too big!

Benchmade 710
Spyderco Military
Microtech Socom Elite or Delta
CRK Sebenza or Umnumzaan (user off exchange?)

Tulsa - I already have 3 places to stay and my old job back. A month in advance. That's a warm damned welcome.

No joke - I really wish there was a Cold Steel XL Tanto Voyager with a wave and smooth handle scales.

Emerson and Cold Steel seem to be making everything I want to get, but with the wrong materials. Oye.

Spyderco Szabo
Emerson Persian
ZT 0454 (probably a bit out of your specified range)
Spyderco Tatanka
Benchmade Rukus

All of these are just over 4" blades, with the Tatanka being the biggest at 5

I've been looking at the Tatanka and the Super Roadhouse, heh. I really want a CQC-12, I think. The Mini CQC-15 I have has been getting crazy amounts of carry time, and I seriously thought I was going to sell it. Nah. Too great.

Annnnnd I just picked up a Cold Steel XL Talwar off a different exchange.

Why mess around? ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM LENGTH
ALSO EMERSON WAVE

Nah, I'll get a new knife. Not used.

I was gonna say Tatanka, but yall beat me to it. Good one to pull out in a waiting room and clean your fingernails with.

Spyderco Military, whatever version floats your boat.

ZT 0200

Benchmade Bedlam, Onslaught or Adamas.

Cold Steel Talwar XL (the wave on that thing is FUN).

Yeah, Adamas in Tan. That's the BIG knife in tan that you are looking for. Buy it!
P.S. Sorry to hear that you have to move to Oklahoma. That sounds terrible.

The Adamas 275 is great whether you like tan or black. Not too many blacks around, though. I think blacks were the original production. Same quality...either one.

Right around 4"+ blades and under $300:

  • Spyderco Military (regular, Ti or Fluted Ti)
  • ZT 0200
  • Spyderco Ulize
  • Benchmade Contego M390
  • Hogue EX-04 4"
  • Protech TR-4.1
  • Fox Havoc
  • Fox Deimos
  • Viper Start
  • Viper Rhino
  • MicroTech SOCOM Elite
  • MicroTech SOCOM Delta
  • Fantoni HB01
  • Spyderco Szabo

I ended up getting an XL Talwar, and I've already contacted the seller regarding returns. While I like the idea of carrying around a gigantic knife, I also like to know I'll have some kind of maneuverability with it.

SO

I bought a CQC-13 and traded for a Spyderco Szabo. One of those will be the winner - big, clip-pointy blades with sturdy locks and good looks.

Who has had a CQC-13? Any experiences? Anything I should know about? I have to admit I kinda blind bought it on appearances and measurements alone, which is pretty rare for me.
