About a month or two ago I posted a thread stating that I needed some pants for an old school SRKW blade; a SAR Rat. It is impossible to find a SAR Rat now a days, making the chore of finding a sheath even more impossible. Safetyman contacted me and said that he did not have a sheath, but would be happy to make one free of charge. I have to admit, I didn't think it was going to be anything spectacular (sorry Safety :p). However, he made me an excellent sheath with an optional drop leg loop that rides on my hip every time I go fishing now. Super comfortable, durable & thick leather, and the SAR Rat fits like a glove.

I just wanted to say thanks bro. That was a very generous gesture and I really appreciate it. Oh...and if you have pictures of the sheath please put them up as I lost the pics you sent me :o

Thanks again

I'll second this. I have a sweet lanyard that he GAVE me in his Labor Day giveaway. Thanks, Safetyman!

No Pics!!?? Aw Man! :(

I had a SAR Rat in house for a few days many moons ago. That was one SWEET Rat!

very nice gesture, congrats....now heres to Eric following that up with an equally nice gesture and re release the SAR Rat.... would love to get my hands on one. Had a chance a couple years ago via trade but didn't do it.... regretfully

I was thinking of giving Safetyman a shout out recently too.

What do you say about the guy who organizes a pass around with one of the best bussekin knives made??!! Sharing the wealth with a Ratweiler??!! Puh-lease!!

Stand up guy!

Thanks guys, just tryin' to be a goo member here :). Here are some pictures of the sheath I sent Brendan. It ain't an Armoralleather sheath, but it should work fine :o.

Its that Edge Coat?

Is that Edge Coat?

Thanks Leatherman. And yep, Edge Kote in black. Any reason you ask? I need to figure out how to get the cement to not show through...

You can get a much more dramatic and polished effect if you use a couple grades of sand paper and sand the edge nice and smooth. Rub some Gum Tragacanth on with heavy cloth like denim or canvas and you'll have a nice smooth look. None of that icky edge coat required.

With all that sanding you wont have any glue residue showing.

Next time I glue one together I'll try to get step by step pics for you, its pretty simple. :)

Thanks, a tutorial would be great! I already sanded the edge and slapped some gum on there with my slicker and still it showed through. I'll try the cloth trick next time...sounds like a good idea. I might have to go through more sanding to get it smooth too.
