Hi Guys, I've been talking with Roger and it looks like our big Spring City campout will be the weekend of July 1st and 2nd. If the date changes, I'll edit the thread or post a new one.

Location: Spring City Campground AKA the Mud Hole.
Who's invited: Everyone and their Dogs. ;)
Dinner: Dutch Oven Chili and Corn bread of course.
Breakfast: Pancakes, fruit and what ever else we deside to bring.
Activities: Hiking, cutting and chopping lots of dead fall, Fire, food, goofing off, Guns and all that good stuff!!
Date (incase you missed it;)): July 1st and 2nd (subject to change)

I checked out Mud Hole Friday afternoon. The snow has mostly melted, someone cleaned up the road getting there and it sure is Pretty!! If you can't tell, I'm excited!

Let me know if you'd like to come and if you can help with food. Thanks!

I wish so bad that I could go; I miss Utah. Sounds like you guys will have fun. It'd end up costing me 400 in gas alone, though, and at this point it's not really possible for me.

Speaking of Utah (and I don't mean to hijack the thread, let me know if there's a problem and I'll remove this portion of the post), I don't know if this is a picture of the place I've been wanting to put a name to, but if it's not, it looks an aweful lot like it. The place I'm thinking of is in NE Utah somewhere, got to be E/NE of SLC. There's a little town and a creek like this runs along the interstate, one of the most beautiful places I've ever encountered. Any guesses as to what the name of this place might be?

If I wasn't on the wrong side of the country from yall, I would love to make this campout. No Dutch oven cobbler? BUMMER!

Quiggifur, Looks like Christmas Medows up by Mirror Lake. Thanks for the invite wildmanh! I would love to come back to Utah. (Grew up in Vernal)

Wrong side of the nation, sorry Heber. I guess its good I'm not there, seeing as I would have to borrow my dad's axe and outclass everyone and their PUNY knives with my MAD CHOPPING SKILLS?! Kidding. You all don't need to inundate me with pictures of giant, latin-machete-or-sword-sized monster knives, I was kidding, because I have neither mad skills nor mad knives to my name. But what I do have...is...RACCOONS! Yes, raccoons. Okay, I got to post an update for everyone who wished me luck on 'my' journey, so see you all later. Peace.

Heber,
Dad's still hanging in there. By a thread but he's tenacious. My plan is still to be there. We'll see what Dad's plan is. I'll try to bring the Airstream this time. Beats the cold hard ground. Godzilla will come naturally.

Roger, thanks for letting me know. If you can't make it the 1st and 2nd, we will plan on catching you another time. That Airstream of yours is so big, I'm not sure how well it will make it along the turn off to Mudhole, but I say you should try. Keep us posted on your dad!

Gents, we are 9 days away from the campout. If you want to come let me know!

The campout is tomorrow. So far there is 1 person going (my self) and 1 maybe (an old neighbor from Provo). Made medium temp Chili a few days ago, will be making mild chili today and combining the two. Then tomorrow I'll make the corn bread before heading out. If no one comes, there will be more food for me, because I'm still going! Though it would be nice to have some company.

Hey Guys, I got back from the campout about 50 minutes ago. It was awesome!! My old neighbor from Provo Joseph came down and met me at my place. Mom and I drove up the canyon in her can and Joe followed in his. We brought some split firewood from home so that we could get one going quickly to heat the chili. Started unpacking the car, made the fire and heated up the Chili. Ate dinner, then my mom left in her car.

Even though it wasn't full dark, we just stayed around the camp fire chatting about books, chopping up some of the down trees and feeding the fire till 2:30am! Most of the firewood up there was still wet from the storms we had Wednesday and Thursday. the logs took a long time to light after being placed on the fire because they were still really wet. So we had some fire, but mostly coals and smoke. Since there is was a gentle breeze coming off the mountain, it blew the smoke away from us which was nice, Kind of towards the tents, but just barely missing them. This really helped keep the Skeeters down last night which was really nice.

We got up sometime after 9am and had breakfast. Cleaned up camp, loafed around a bit then went hiking up the trail. Got about half way up it. It's been so wet the last 2 to 3 winters that there is tons of new growth. We both used Lisa to clear the trail. It was so lush and green. Amazingly beautiful. Unfortunatly I left my camera at home and Joe left his in his car. Doh!! Don't worry, I'm heading back up there to tackle that trail again and make it to the top sometime in the next few weeks. Will take pictures then.

It was a great time with some good conversations and scenory. :) Even though it was just the 2 of us most of the time, I'm glad we did it.

Thanks for inviting all of us, and thanks for the update.

Not a problem! I hope everyone else has a fun weekend. Mine sure is.

A new guy in town wants to learn the local trails and go with me on some trips, so I might have a new local Hiking budy soon. :)
