Check out this crazy bowie. A customer mailed me a blade, I believe it's a Cold Steel Laredo bowie factory second (uneven clip) and asked me if I would make a knife out of it.

Much hair pulling and elbow grease later, here it is 99% complete. (Needs a little blade polish touchup).

I soldered the backstrap on, and lathe-turned the brass bushing that the end nut fits into on the grip. The guard is stacked brass-copper-brass. I left it all as a take-down guard and hilt.

Horsehide sheath with double loop lacing.

Thanks Mr Sharpe. I got the stag from the customer as well. I don't know where he got it, but there was still a good bit of hair on it when it got to me... Seemed like mule deer antler. No brow tine to mess things up, though.

Nice of you to say, Ray. Cold Steel knives are not really my cup of tea either. I had to move the tang shoulders forward on this knife about 3/16" in order to radius the corners. The way Cold Steel had the tang cut out those square inside corners looked like a likely stress riser.

 Very nice piece of work there. You have every right to be real proud of that.
The sheath work thonging is a treat.
Good onya!
