I was asked to reproduce this Bowie as close to the picture as possiable..6 inch handle and 12 inch long Blade,3 inches at widest point and 2 1/2 inches at the guard..This is a Massive Bowie..The sheath is done in a antiqued and ruff look and made from Tin like the original...It also has a steel guard...
Not my normal spit and polish, but a really cool Bowie anyway..
Any opinions ????
Bruce

bruce, i like the down and dirty knd of appeal it has. the guard gives just a touch of refinement, but it really has a warriors howl to it. especially with that shealth.

You scare me sometimes Bruce. Nobody can be that good. It looks just like the picture. Beautiful knife. It's hard enough to make a beauty like that with room to be creative but I can't imagine taking a picture and making it's twin.

Wow, Bruce! Both knife and sheath are incredible. What does something like that weigh? Do you know anything about the history of the original? Very cool!:)

Good job Bruce,
so what's the story behind that? a reinactor, prop for a movie? I think anyone would be hard pressed to prove that's not the one in the picture.Excellent work as always.

Thanks everybody...
Reproducing one from a picture isn't that bad,That is how allot of the old Bowies are being reproduced now.If you have a measurement from some part of the knife, these new fangled copy machines that inlarge pictures will get you really close and then you can figure the rest out from there:D
I know a few people that make reproductions, one is our own forumite Graymaker. He does some great work also...
As for the history of this piece all I know about it is that it is in the Bowie knife book and is listed as the Texas Bowie..

Bruce, that's awesome, I'd been wondering where you were...I always figure it's going to be good when you do show back up.

What a massive knife. Amazing you got it so close, and it must be cool to hold it and relive part of history. Thanks for sharing.

Dave

I can only see a difference in the color of the handle. That is awesome. It looks like an extremely accurate repro. I hate to be repetitive but, awesome.:D

man that things huge,I didnt relize how large it until i saw the picture of it being held. I was going to post the question of how big is to big?cause i pounded out a bowie about the same size this weekend. I guess that answers my question. im going to have to try that metal sheath tutorial. and i dont think its been said enough awsome knife.

Bruce, really nice. I remember seeing the original photo of that knife in an auction catalog, it impressed me then. I wished it could talk. Your reproduction is impressive.

 Nice job Bruce
Pete said you were going to send that to him
In a day or two. glad to see it finished..
Thanks for the plug.
Pete will give you the history
of just about any Bowie that was ever made.
down to why the size changing with time.
did you get this one yet to do the sheath for?

Thanks Dan,Yes I have that one and am working on the sheath now..One question,Why the double plunge lines on this Bowie? The picture he sent for the sheath was not the originall of this knife,so I have been curious...Finally found a box to send the Big Bowie to Pete in,so I will be sending it out tomorrow,as long as the post office is open,I had forgot about it being good Friday and now I may have to make him wait until Monday to ship it,But If I do he will have all of them in one Box with there sheaths...
Boy that will be a package to get...
