Big Thanks regarding Dried Epoxy Removal

I glued up a 7" satin finished chef the other day. I was continually checking for ooze but when I woke up in the morning, I found this horrible fillet of red epoxy around the front of the scale. I was obviously concerned with scratching the finish of the blade.

I checked the past threads here and the general consensus was to make a brass graver but that would probably still scratch the surface.

Then I saw a post from Andre V suggesting to heat up the graver with a torch first. This worked awesome. Removing the Gflex was just like carving soft wax as long as the brass was hot. This was so easy. I thought I was going to have hours of work ahead of me but it only took a few minutes.

What a great tip. That'll teach me for not waxing the blade and scales first.

I’ve always used a razor and acetone but will definitely be trying a heated tool in the future.

blue tape removed at the right time will solve most glue ooze problems, then I follow up with a copper scrapper

Brass graver can not scratch surface on hardened blade in any way...You do not have to be worried about that at all .
