I won a KA BAR heavy Bowie in a contest held by Moose.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/872498-Because-I-can.......

The UPS man had come while I was out running errands, so I came home to a box sitting on my desk and a wife who demanded to know what new toy I had ordered. I tried to explain the fact that I had won a contest, but to little effect as my wife is fully aware of both my bad habits and my horrible luck when it comes to winning things.

Normally I don't open my toys in front of my wife - normally she doesn't know about most of my toys - but this time I did. She's not into knives at all - but she loved this one.

My first thought was "WOW."

My second thought was quite similar.

This is far and away the largest knife I have and I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent balance when held in the hand. The grip is excellent: very comfortable in a variety of positions and it appears unlikely to be slippery when wet.

Fit and finish is superb and the heft is enough to let you know this knife is a serious tool without being too heavy for comfortable use.

While I haven't had the chance to use it yet - slicing thin paper doesn't really count - I assure you that I will use it and frequently.

I will post a full review once I've had the chance to really use the knife (complete with pictures).

Until then.....

Thank you KA BAR and a special thanks to Moose. That was one heck of a prize.

Once again man, congrats, and I'm anxious to see the review. I have recently discovered my need for a large batoning knife while camping, and this one is near the top of my list.

If you could show how this thing does on largish(6-8inches if possible) pieces of wood while batoning, that would be awesome.

And also, you guys are totally right, Moose and KaBar are awesome for doing all of these givaways, it makes this place exciting :).

Wow moose, you're pretty much amazing. I've been part of a forum for a really long time, but I've never seen one as friendly and generous as this one.

I'll be anxiously pressing F5 every 12 seconds until I see what this next amazing contest is...

Yeah, Moose is a cool cat. Enjoy that Bowie... saw one in real life for the first time and almost walked out the door with it. Sooo tasty. But ultimately I don't need a fighting knife, and have better knives for the bush.
