Big-time lags

As much as I appreciate Spark's effort to upgrade the server, I've got to say that performance has been worse since BFC came back online today. I have been experiencing serious lags when opening threads and maneuvering about the site.

Thanks, Spark, for the time and effort you put into this site.

Although it had been going on for a while. It seems to be happening less in the 8 minutes since posting this thread.

Thanks again, Spark.

maybe it takes time to fine tune things and work out bugs.

I'm sure that is it. I started this thread only because so many people had posted in the other thread how much faster and smoother the site was running, and while I sure do appreciate and thank Spark for his efforts, that's just not the case for me.

I'm just trying to give Spark some honest feedback. :)

Ya gotta unnerstand. When the system first comes back on line, there's a backlog of electrons trying to get through the teensy-weensy wires. They jam up. But once they start flowing, wow! Up to speed again.

Actually, I got back, I guess around 3:00, and it took a bit for a few pages to load. I shut one down, loaded again, and it popped right up. Since then, we seem to be moving right along.

I often get slow loads now too. In fact, on more than one occasion I haven't even been able to access any pages on the site at all...for extended periods of time. I didn't know an upgrade was going on. That probably explains it. I have been having signs of withdrawal when I couldn't get in.

Two other issues I am experiencing:
1) Twice today when posting a message I have received the message "This message is a duplicate of a message you have posted in the last five minutes" and I am certain that I only hit the post button once.

2) In W&C, under Ren's "I keep getting email's..." thread, it shows the last post as having come from Rat, however, if you open the thread, you will see that I have the last post.

Edited to add: #2 is moot now that others have posted after me, but it was really happening... I swear it...

Seems touch and go. Sometimes the pages snap right up, other times I'm getting a 30-60 delay. After the delay it works OK for a bit, then does it again. Just an FYI, I realize upgrades breed glitches.

That's been my experience too. I'm guessing there's a setting that needs to be tweaked a bit. Something perhaps along the lines of "Number of concurrent connections allowed". But when it works it is noticeably faster

The upgrade has already come and gone?
When did it happen?
I was offline for just a little while and wasn't aware anything happened until I came back and found this thread and now so far I'm noticing really fast reloads and pages popping up as fast as I can hit the button. :D

I haven't had any of these problems today.
Everything seems to be AOK.

Thanks again, Sparkles. :)

Server is being switched in the next 24 hours. We'll see what happens then.
