I'm back home from college for a couple weeks before I head to Wyoming for the summer for my geology field training course. My dad asked if I thought I could drop a big oak near the back of our house for him. I was, of course, happy to get some exercise felling after a long semester. I used to be a Fiskars hater, that is, until I actually used one. It's not a pretty axe, I can't replace the handle, and the bit isn't as wide as I would like, but when there's work to be done, it's my go-to tool for the job. I'm still solidly in the vintage axe camp, but I believe there's a well deserved place for the Fiskars.
Here's the vid of me making the back cut after I removed the bark from the backside of the tree.

I then limbed the tree with the axe and let my dad have some fun bucking with the chainsaw. They'll have a good store of firewood from this one for sure.
