BIG TROUBLE, need help

Just tell her you lost it, then break down blubbering like a baby saying how you can't believe you could be so stupid. In other words, be a man.;)

BigDeeeee is right. She'll figure it isn't the one she gave you even if you find another. In worst case you lost it she found it and is waiting for you to make the manly move. Stand erect like a man and confess your stupidity. Women already know we're stupid and enjoy hearing us confirm it.

You said girlfreind so this could be the future wife test. Tell her you lost it and are sorry. If she says " oh thats all right, we'll just get you another one sweety", then she's a keeper. If she says "you are a stupid, little man that can't do anything right", then rruuuunnnnnnnn.:D

Wait til you have to tell her you lost something REALLY important.

Like her car.

Better take the hit on this one, and see how she reacts. It's just a knife, after all.

Be a man..... she'll have plenty more opportunity to test you like this.... better build the record now...

Maybe you will want to tell her about it and these other guys are right. But let me offer you some help in the other direction if you decide to go there.

I am not in the least knowledgeable in sight identification of knives but maybe if I start this out some others can help out. I used to have a knife like this that looked similar. From my understanding, the picture you posted is typical of BUCK brand knives. I say this because of the gold caps on each end of the handle and the button locking mechanism that sits on the lower back edge of the handle. Now I am sure other brands utilize these features as well but I DO know that Buck hunter/outdoor knives have these features. The knife I used to have was a Buck folding hunter. You can see some of the classic folding knives at:

The design on the knife makes this tough. If it was just a standard design it would be MUCH easier to find it. I do know also that you can rule out the brand names that deal exclusively in tactical folders becuase the locking mechanism would easily fail with a tight grip in a confrontational situation being so low on the handle and accessible to depression with the bottom of your palm.
Thats all I can help with. Maybe some other guys here will offer better help.

If there was any way you could ask her where she bought it, you could just go to the dealer and ask him. That is probably the easiest idea behind straight up telling her you lost it.

I agree with Calyth, personally.

But if you really want to find this knife without telling her, I'd figure out which stores near you might carry such a knife, and then go searching for it. Does she like to shop in a particular mall or neighborhood? Go there and look for a knife shop (or shaver shop or hardware store that sells knives). You may find where she bought it. Of course, this doesn't apply if you know she bought the knife through the mail or from some other distant place.

Ya know, I don't care what everyone else says,:D you all are really a bunch of stand-up guys around here. Good suggestions.:)

Take her to see the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" right before you tell her you lost the knife. If that doesn't soften her up for your bad news, then run far away!

Does it look like this: [hope not cause I paid two bucks for it]

just tell her it was so bad made you opened it and NEARLY cut of your finger(s), in a automatic motion you trew it away from you and it felt into deep water:
WHAT A LUCK FOR YOU BOTH!
Don`t treat her for the bad knife as long as she will go with you buying a better one.

Is this like kind of being pregnant? (Sorry, just couldn't resist)

I say "fess up" and tell her. I'm sure she's lost things -- she'll understand. Besides, if it turns up later and now you have two identical knives, you're going to be in a world of hurt (trust me, I know).
