Does anyone know exactly what Brand or Type of Knife it is that Kurt Russel, AKA "Jack Burton" uses in the Movie "Big Trouble in Little China"?
Here is a Pretty good Picture but there are much better shots of it in the Movie...

Thats what I thought at first too... but its smaller, straighter and has a different Butt-cap with a little square Lanyard deal.

It looks like a Spyderco to me. I guess that means you won't be able to get one now.:p

In all seriousness, it does look like a Gerber MKII, but the MKII had a metal handle, not an FRN or Kraton one, which that one looks to have. That knife actually looks closer to a Cold Steel Tai Pan or Peacemaker than a Gerber MKII.

Wait a minute, I just found it for you: http://kis.net/00/fangwithshoulder.jpg

Pretty sure that it was a Gerber TAC II (possibly a TAC I).

Note the hole in the guard for the sheath retention/quick-release system.

If you google Gerber TAC II, you should find a few pics of it.

What I know for a fact is that it is a not a Gerber Mark II. The blade appears to be manufactured in a very similar fashion to that the MKII (with less of a flare towards the point). It also has a similar handle style. However, all the MKII variants had some type of metal end cap and "cat's-tongue" handles, aluminum, etc. No Kraton variants, to my knowledge, were ever produced originally.

As the gentlemen above said, it is more than likely a Gerber. The exact model eludes me.

It was a Gerber Tac-II. There we several different variations of this knife made.

I have a chance to buy one of those tac2's, should I?

I had one back in the late 80's early 90's. Knife basically came dull, and the steel they used was almost impossible to sharpen with stones. Very heavy and bulky sheath. Evryone loved the knife because at the time it was ultimate tacti-cool. Never really used it because stabbing people was not at the top of my to do list. About all it would be good for, other than collecting purposes, seems somewhat rare these days..

Traded it for a Mk2. No regrets.
