There's always hope, Rolf. The Wilkins' design I first suggested Spyderco consider making was the Ryback Folding Chef's knife.

I believe Sal does appreciate larger knives. I also believe he appreciates the problems that could arise from making them, including losing money on a model that turned out to have too small a market segment to be profitable.

I was thinking something similar to the leaf, G10 (maybe even the same green translucent), Titanium, and S30V or S90V (while it lasts) in a larger size, keep the beefy blade and bend the shape between the leafstorm and the manix 2. Then give it a nice FFG grind, or a high large radius hollow grind. 3.5-4" it would be perfect.

Really, this idea has been resisted for sooo long, I've come to accept that Spyderco will never produce anything longer than the Catcherman. Then out of the blue... BAM! Five inch folder in the works!

True, but Spyderco already has a half dozen 5"+ fixed blades, and another one wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary. Given the context of the thread, I have to presume he meant folding blades.
Though I do realize that presumptions are a very risky thing in this business.
