we got an area of queensland and northern new south wales underwater here in australia

interesting situation , the state capital is flooded , some major destruction in it , a LOT , like a LOT of it just underwater not actually washed around just up tot he rafters in water

the outlying towns copped it harder , some have had most the town ripped off its footings and dumped in a pile of buildings 200 meters down the road by the force of the flash flood

this has been on going for a week or so as disaster , with a couple weeks build up to it

this is like 500km from me as the crow flies , but not a danger to me personally , however its hit a few of my friends up there bloody hard , some I cannot contact , unknown of they are alive at the moment

the police and army are excluding EVERYONE out of the worst affected areas until they have finished their body retrieval job , the death toll and missing list is low at oment because the bodies are either washed out to sea or still underwater mostly stuck in cars and buildings

media are being let in with restriction on what they can show , residents are not allowed at all yet ...

k this isnt exactly knife related but it is survival related , people died driving thru water they shoulda known better than to try , people died because they came to rubber neck and got stuck , people had to be rescued because they were doing dumb things , others begause they was just stuck , hit by a wall of water and managed to hang on to something .. wilderness ... the place is now a wilderness of sorts and a lot of bushcraft and improvision will be going on for a while to come

mobile phones are the only coms apart from internet ... suprisingly , the emergency services are using twitter cos nothing else works

something worth keeping an eye on maybe , its not over yet more rain coming

man that is some harsh flooding, i been watching news clips! .

interesting about the use Twitter by Emergency Services......

I have seen a number of news clips on this, it seems that Oz is getting a lot of flooding this year. And wasn't it a drought until very recently?

Lots of survival lessons to be learned if you glean the reports.

my brother over on west coast was jittery because of the number and size of the bushfires around his area , it wasnt a laid back visit , one ear on the radio listening to the evac orders being given for what towns , waiting to see if the fires was getting close enough to be real worried or not

I come home to find just north of us is underwater ..

yeah we did have some pretty brutal drought for a few years here , looks like its over up there at least

I have also seen reports on the news. I saw cars being washed along like corks in a creek. Man that is devastating.

It just seems like there's one disaster after another lately.

Doc

BTW, good to see you back here, Myal.

No shit eh?

Seen some of it on the news and it makes you think about a different type of survival altogether cause flooding is something that can affect any part of the world

Yep been watching the news to about what is happening over there in the land down under. I feel so bad for you all. When I see the video that is shown I am like YIKES.
Are there Crocs in that are of Austraila?
Prayers for you all.

Bryan

Its good to be back , thanks
we do have crocs , but a little more north than where the floods are
the scale of the devistation is kind of hard to comprehend , all kind of problems too that I never imagined could come up , I have heard of people on houseboats yelling for help as they were washed out to sea .. their boat motor kinda useless against the current apparently
the weather is pretty warm , humidity and flood stink is ever present , but the waters are in places going down as the waters head off to hit other places , Goondawndi has an 11 meter levi bank holding back just under 11 meters of floodwater at the moment , its a wait n see thing if the levi holds up or the waters win out
now tho , way down south in VIctoria , some major flash flooding has ripped up a whole bunch of towns ... what the hell is going on ?
Im feeling blessed at the moment tho , literally a couple days ago , I was down south in Renmark passin thru wondering at how dry the place was , now its flooding , the park we let the kids play at and they ran around kicking up dust is now at least dust free... like under several feet of water lol
