Biggest, bestest, flick

Brian Caffrey sold me a Vaquero Grande. It is absurdly huge and I absolutely without a doubt am having a ball flicking it open. It opens easily from any angle and locks open with a loud clack instead of just a click. If this is a mega folder then I've been missing out. The weight and solid feeling when it locks open is (clack) quite simply (clack) something that (CLACK) satisfies my machismo. How are the SIFUs when you flick em?

Glad to see you're enjoying that megafolder.

When I got mine a few months back, I really enjoying flicking it as well, and it's very solid, too.

I'm just waiting for the serrations to wear off (that is, IF ever I get to use it) so that I can put a plain edge on it.

Now THAT would be awesome.

The only flicker I own which is more impressive than the Vaquero Grande is a FISKARS wooden handled pruning saw that flicks open with a resounding thwack to about 21 inches. That is impressive. And it prunes like a fiend. My wife grimaces every time she sees me flick it open (but I just smile and ignore the grimace).

Knifewise, my Vaquero Grande rules as the biggest and bestest flicker.

Dan I ground off the serrations and the edge is convex ground. It cuts very nicely now and stays sharp for a long time.

If you grind off the serrations you may want to remove the thumbstud first. I didn't and now one thumbstud is slightly shorter than the other.

Hiya Chuck!

Err.. convex ground? Cripes! Coupled with that Nogales design, that's one mean slicer.

I'm real happy to hear how much you like the VG. It is absolutely one of the fastest deploying folders I've ever handled.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I sold it because I recently got a Sifu. Although it can be opened with simple centrifugal force, mine requires a bit more force to be used than the VG did. Once the big blade is in motion, however, the action is smooth as silk.

Since I don't want to chance damaging the stop pin, I generally don't open the Sifu solely by centrifugal force. It swings open easily with a push on the thumb stud. Hardly any wrist action at all is needed. I close it by simply releasing the lock & then turning it edge-down in my hand to let gravity have its way. Likewise, another way to open it is to release the lock & just let the blade swing into place by its own weight. Actions simply don't get much smoother than this.

Yep!
What Bcaffrey said!
SIFU. Biggest, baddest folding blade for the buck! Anytime. Anywhere.
Smoooooth as silk. Tough as a tank. Badass blade profile that makes Sheeple soil themselves at the mere sight of it!
