Biggest small knife?

Throw in some more requirements to make this more interesting. :) "slim" and "light" could apply to a 4 foot sword. Are you looking for something with a 2 inch blade? 4 inch?

slim? light? formidable?

i don't think you'll get a complete package smaller, lighter, and more formidable than a Spyderco Dodo.

personally, i'd much prefer to get cut by a Military than a Dodo. but that might just be me.

For REALLY slim and light, yet with a dagger blade near 4" and a reasonable grip, the benchmade darkstar (previously sentinel) is the way to go.

I really love my Dodo, but I don't see it as small.

Sure the blade is,but the handle is bigger than a Delica, not sure of weight about the same or a little more than the Delica.

Camillus Cuda Maxx 5.5. Thin and amazingly light for its size. Easily fits in RFP of jeans. Trust me, it's formidable.

The Kershaw Blur is a not-so-small, well made with good materials, assisted-opening knife. It's light, slim (even more if you decide to use it without the pocket clip like I do), has good grip, & it comes in a variety of colours & blade types. Check it out!

well, i assumed he meant actually in use, and not when it's on stand-by. but eitherway, i still think the Dodo is a nice small knife. i mean, some ppl here have been mentioning the Spyderco Military! :p

Spyderco Dodo
6-&-1/8" / 2.5oz overall
4-&-3/8" closed
1-&-3/4"cutting edge / 2-&-1/6" blade

Spyderco Delica
7" / 1.9oz overall
4" closed
2-&-11/16"cutting edge / 3" blade

CF Delica
7" / 2.42oz overall
4" closed
2-&-11/16" cutting edge / 3" blade

SS Delica
6-&-13/16" / 4oz overall
4" closed
2-&-1/2" cutting edge / 2-&-7/8" blade

Spyderco Military
9-&-1/2" / 4oz overall
5-&-1/2" closed
3-&-11/16" cutting edge / 4" blade

Black Blade Military
9-&-1/2 inches / 4.2oz overall
5-&-1/2" closed
3-&-11/16" cutting edge / 4" blade

so i think the Dodo's pretty small when deployed more-so than while on stand-by, y'know?

You've just got to love this crowd: Calling a Cuda Maxx 5.5 a "small" knife :D.

Personally, my vote would go to the Calypso jr.

Does it have to be a folder? Lots of heavy duty small fixed blades out there.

Of course the Cuda Maxx 5.5 is small, and my Busse Battle Mistress is a neck knife. :-0

The "biggest" small knife I've ever seen or owned is without a doubt a Bob
Dozer "Straight Personal" fixed blade that A.G. Russell sells. That little guy
just doesn't know it's only 6" overall with a 2 3/4" blade!!

In folders it has to be a Spyderco Small Calypso.

Raptor - My plain edge Navigator went by by. Where can I purchase a "Mouse?"

Is this a new design or something older I'd need to e-bay.

Work has slowly lowered their blade sizes and we're now down to 2". Bummer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mark.

Hi mwelch,
I'm not sure if Spyderco is still mailing the Mouse or not. I thought that I heard somewhere that it's only being produced now by the original designer Tim Wegner. I believe, if that's the case, then it's not exactly the same knife. What are the differences? Not sure exactly...sorry.

Maybe someone else can chime in on this?

FYI - I bought mine from BladeArt a while back (maybe 2+ years?).

Good (Mouse) hunting...

I'll second the Straight Personal, it's a great knife. It's actually a hair over 6 3/4" long by my measurements.

As to the Mouse, it's out of production but I've seen them in A.G. Russell's catalog not too long ago, he might still have some left. If not, the Bladetech version has gotten some nice reviews.
