The wife and I went for a bike ride today. The weather was perfect for it.

My high dollar bike  :

Swedish mess kit fits well in the trunk:

This is mostly what it looks like in the area I live. All farm land, except a few trees, and that's always where the creeks are:

Reached our destination, about 3 miles outside of town:

By the pond, and through the woods a bit:

Cross through the creek. The water is very low, but I about fell over in the creek, haha. I figured slow was better, but I went too slow, and about lost it:

The destination, by the creek. Broke the mess kit out:

Fired it up, to get some water boiling:

Fired my stove up as well, for the usual hot tea:

Not quite boiling:

Got the Ramen's ready:

Not a rolling boil, but good enough for hot tea:

Wife took her Serbian pack, and I opted for the sling bag. I have yet to use my pack:

Not much color to be seen yet:

Feather we came across. Don't know what from, but I'm guessing pheasant. We have pheasant and turkeys in the area:

Thanks for looking.

Great pics!! Looks like it was a nice ride with the wife. The wife and I used to love in Naperville, IL, and we used to do stuff like this. Kind of miss it. There are so many areas, and forest preserves in Illinois that you could ride all the time as long as the weather was nice.

Thanks man. It's pretty boring where we live, but we make do with what we have. I do wish I lived in a wooded area.

Looks like good times Dubz. Getting some dirt time with the gear. I like that Serbian bag and the cigar and brandy is just plain classy. :D

Thanks man, we had fun. The Serbian bags are awesome. I've modded mine a bit, and added a sternum strap. I'm also gonna make a better water bottle carrier for it. It was actually rum, but close enough. I had it in my sling bag from the southern Illinois hike. I actually forgot it was even in there. My father in law was gonna throw the little jigger cup away, but I took it, and polished it up for my kit.

Rum works too. It really was a glorious day today. Wish we'd have gotten a chance to get out and enjoy it like that.

Man, it was freakin' perfect weather wise today. A bit windy in the country, but, who cares, it was nice out. I think we had a high of 71° today. I could have easily taken a nap while there today. Very relaxing.

Great pics, looks like you and the missus had a good time. I enjoy these adventure photos, hopefully soon I can get out to my state forest with my dog for a bit of bushwalking.

Very cool Dubz! Makes me want to get the bike back in working order.

That looks like a perfect afternoon. I've been debating on putting a back rack on one of my bikes, you sealed the deal.
One of things in life I really enjoy is a nice long bike ride. I've got 1200+ miles this year looking to double that in 2014.
If you interested in a biking event check out RAGBRAI... it's a hoot.

It was fun. Just goes to show you what can be done in an uneventful, boring place, haha.

Looks like a perfect day.
I've been riding alot this summer.
Thanks man, appreciate it.

Our bikes have been kind of "stuck" in the shed. It's been full of kitchen cabinets, etc. Now that they're finally out of there, I can get to things again. This is usually the time of year we go riding anywhos. Summer is way too hot for me.

A rack is a must have. The trunk comes in handy too. Neither is that expensive. I have paniers for it too, but they're just grocery paniers. In other words, they're open topped to put groceries in, as opposed to having flaps for going biking, and storing clothing, etc. The good ones are a bit more pricey, but cheaper ones can be found, especially used ones. We love to go bike riding. Good to get some fresh air, good exercise, don't feel hurried, etc. Very enjoyable indeed.

I really enjoyed the pictures of your day out, The Warrior. Looks like your country side is perfect for biking, so open and flat. It looks very idyllic, and I like the brown liqueur and brown cigars, they compliment each other very well!

I love bike riding just started carrying a folder recently on my road trips. I always try to go as light as possible though and do not carry one when I mountain bike. I failed at rigging a fixed blade to my bike, but I do not want to scratch it up a ton.

Very flat. Some slight hills, but nothing that's not easy enough to navigate with the bikes. Love smoking a cigar, especially after eating.

I like to go as light as possible as well. Sometimes I bring overkill, as I would rather have it, if needed. The trunk comes in handy. Just velcro holding it on to the rack. I carry a few tools, mainly to fix a flat, and just had the mess kit in it. Everything else was in my sling bag.

Beautiful pics. Looks like you had a great time.
Thanks man, appreciate it.

I love riding. I don't do it enough though. I used to race all over. Spent a lot of money on bikes and gear. Man I miss it.

Good post. Thanks!
