When weather permits I am on a motorcycle. I carry a Gerber multi tool in the saddle bags. Is there a multi tool out there centered more for mechanical repairs? Yes the bike came with a "basic" tool kit but I want to add to it.
Thanks

Nah, being the crotch rocket i have i dont keep a tool kit on hand but i can tell you from experience, a multi tool isnt the way to go with a motorcycle. Id stick with the toolkit. What type of bike do you have? I know on my dads cavalcade i switched the screws over to allenhead and so that eliminated the screw drivers, i packed some spare fuses, allen wrenches, pliers, sockets, a small adjustable for those odd bolts. Installing a new starter i used my buck tool though :-D.pack a tire plug kit.. Id also pack a tester light. Ive also used my multi tools to open up the bleeder on the brakes, adjust my clutch and pull those hard to get fuses. Hooking up a battery i use it also. I would recommend maybe a leatherman with a ratchet attachment to it if u must have one on you. i used to have a victorinox sport ratchet made for bicycles but it would also make a good add on for a motorcycle because you could switch out the bits for different ones, it had a knife and bottleopener screw driver combo.

I use a Leatherman Charge when I take longer road trips on my Road King and it's come in very handy, obviously it's not the best when you can get your hands on a set of hand tools but in a pinch and when you are packing light you can't beat it.

My edc is a Victorinox Spirit multitool. It is also the one that I bring when I'm riding my motorcycle (currently a Kawasaki Concours) locally or touring (I moto-camp alot). I like to keep it handy in a jacket pocket to I don't have to dig out the tool kit if I need to make a minor adjustment or something. For more serious work, I tossed the cheesey facotry toolkit and assembled a more substantial one myself.

I tried a Leatherman Surge for awhile as my bike multitool, but it was just too big and heavy to keep in my jacket. I didn't really need one that beefy if I had "real" tools also.

If I were going minimalist with a tool kit, I'd get a multitool with vise-grips, like a leatherman Crunch or Kershaw.

Thanks
I have a vt600 and a honda rebel for my daughter.
I did not know there were ratchet multi tools.

haven't seen a ratcheting Leatherman, but the Wave does have that bit driver attachment that allows you to use 3/8 bits
