Good evening everyone
I am interested in this Mr Bagwell knife, but I have doubts about its authenticity, thank you for your help ,
I do not have better pictures, sorry .

Bagwell stamp looks like Bills

The Double Extra Forged is also a stamp that Bill used

The handle looks dubious and I’m curious if the sheath has any markings

It could be an early Bagwell but if so there are better examples out there to be had

no marking on the sheath that is not original in my opinion, thank you for your precisions Joe ...

the handle bugs me. that one pin near the guard off center does not look like something bill would do. i do not recall any of his work having pearl inlay, but it may exist. i had 9 bagwells once, i am down to 5. all the sheaths were stamped with his name. is that one stamped ?

John, thank you for your answer, the sheath is not signed, so no origin (I think)
the ricasso seems odd too, but the knives Bill so rare ...

John Aprils pin observation is interesting. There's no complimentary pin on the other side (3rd photo). They should go through right?

Have you email Bill Bagwell and asked him?.

I met Bill Bagwell a long time ago in Paris, but I have no more contact with him .. you're right I'm going to ask him .
I did not know if I could do it

Coffin Bowie has ebony skull and coffin shape (Houhou), original double iron guard with big nails and abalone skull crimped in the wood
The knife was made in 1975 for Paul Snided of Los Angeles ....

I have always had a passion for this man who makes knives as he lives.
a monument as you say and I think you are right ..... I am looking I am looking I am looking for and I find that ...

Thank you very much for your help, Joe of course

I had a Bagwell stamped with the ‘Double Extra Forged’ and it was pearl inlaid. ;)

You beat me to it but I was going to say it’s legit. Mine was a Gamblers Fighter and had the suits of the cards inlaid in MOP....made in the mid/late 70’s.

Nice...Happy New Year!

my bad on the handle ( embarrassed lol )

Don’t be

Bill in the earlier years did some different stuff before he settled on his styles so it can be very difficult to say for sure

Once he settled on his Coffin and Birds head style he rarely deviated unless it was stag but the earlier stuff can vary greatly

The two stamps were the give away and I too was not sure on the handle ..... people have rehandled Bagwells before but I had a feeling that was Bills work
