Back in the late 80's I bought a Bagwell Damascus Skinner with hickory scales.

Is there a web site that specializes in Bagwell knives? I need t see what it is worth.

Thanks HW

I'm sure if you post a photo and give dimensions one of this forum's extremely knowledgeable Bagwell collectors can give you a very good idea as to value.
If you are unable to post a photo, just e-mail me one and I will post it up here.

Finally got my camera back. It's about 9" overall with a 4 1/2" blade. I think it is what he called a lizard pattern damascus. I forget. It has hickory handle with a little file work on the last 3rd of the tang.

What's it worth?

Thanks

Would you like to sell it? I'd like to buy it.

Bagwell says those are Rose Wood scales.

Secondly, before you answer any inquiries for purchase, it would be a good idea to upgrade your membership to Gold and then put it in the correct forum for sales. Just a friendly tip according to forum rules.

Hey Paul

The scales are NOT rosewood. The photos don't show the course grain of the Hickory. I can remember talking to Bill on the phone for over an hour and a half about the knife after he made it, before he shipped it. He was pretty windy back then. Think we had 3 different conversations on the knife. Hickory scales and several applications of boiled linseed oil. He also told me sheath is dyed with Fiebings medium brown dye and then hand rubbed with Kiwi Oxblood polish. I think at the time it matched some mountain man leatherword that was common. I wasn't into blackpowder rifles the way he was, so I didn't so much attention to the mountain man part of the conversations

Right now I'm just fishing for value. It was my first custom knife purchase. May very well end up keeping it.

Thanks

Since you are familiar with Bill and have spoken to him on the knife, may be better to just ask him the value.
Your opening post gave the impression (at least to me) that you weren't as knowledgeable on Bill and his knives.
