I recently finished this pair of Bowies inspired by some of Bill Bagwell's signature pieces.
I was making a fantasy piece for my kids as an integral, starting with a big block of A2: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/blade-of-woe.1740855/
I realized that I could make a pair of Bowies from the "scrap".
The scrap piece was 0.75" thick, so I split it down the middle with a hacksaw to get a pair of Bowies. As a part time hobbyist I'm happy with the outcome of these (of course Paul Long and Coop put a silk hat on it).
Here are pics of the two pieces and the "Blade of Woe" which produced the scrap piece to get this side project started.

I was going to comment on the knives and design, but FIRST I have to state the obvious:

You CUT the stock down the middle by hand with a hacksaw....??!!:thumbsup:o_O:D

I love traditional, and I really love non-accustomed builds. CHECK!

This took me quite a bit of time for figure out HOW to show.

Great work Richard. It's a deserving project to display and be proud of!

Seeing them enshrouded in Paul Long's work ALWAYS makes me smile wider. ;)

Nice work. Are the handles Bill Bagwell sized? I had a Bill Bagwell fighter back in the early 90s. Massive handle. Of course if you have shaken his hand you know why.

Thanks, I can't really say about the handle size since I haven't had the chance to see a Bagwell in person. I studied pictures, but ultimately made it fit to my hands. I would say it is pretty generous for a L-XL glove size.

Yeah I met Bill once and I had one of his knives at the time. I would have probably asked him about the handle size until I shook his hand. Again you do nice work and I will repeat what SharpByCoop said, You cut that with a hacksaw?!

I agree with the hacksaw business but what caught my attention was this phrase "As a part time hobbyist I'm happy with the outcome of these," it is astounding to me the detail and craftmanship exhibited in these fine pieces of art at the hands of a "hobbyist." Sir you are to be congratulated for your work.:thumbsup:
