I was fortunate enough to be first in line for Bill's generous offer of a knife that he would sell and donate the proceeds to Tsunami relief. Here is a link to the thread where you can see a couple of photos:

You can get a good idea from the photos, but this is one knife you really need to see in person to fully appreciate. The damascus looks different depending on the lighting. The blade grinds are precise, the guard is neatly soldered. Great finish on the maple handle. The pouch style leather sheath is solid and attractive.

My standards for customs are high because I own several quality blades. Bill ranks up there with the best I've seen. I'm thinking of having Bill make me something a little less fancy that will be easier to use without worrying about. From reading his website he seems very focused on steel testing and performance, with 52100 his steel of choice. He also has a few knives listed at www.bladegallery.com.

One final note- Bill answers emails promptly and wanted to make sure I was happy with the knife. Can you tell if I am? ;)

That's a terrific knife and en even better gesture by Bill. Congrats to you both.

Andrew, thank you for the wonderful comments. I do appreciate your generousity , it made this donation to the United Way possible and I know it will be very much welcomed. You were a real pleasure to do business with and I look forward to any future projects you might have that would require my services.

Thank you again, and I'll get a drawing made and e-mail you soon.

Thank you also Roger.

Bill
