I was poking around Bladerunner Knives down in Tucson, one last visit this year before we head back to the frozen wastes of Alberta (Arizona is really nice in the winter). Been visiting Richard's shop there off and on for a couple of decades, ever since my folks retired down in Green Valley when our kids were still little. Richard is a great guy to talk to, one of the most knowledgeable knife people anywhere, and has one of the best brick & mortar knife stores I've ever seen. Make that the best. Anyway, a couple of simple but elegant Bowies in his display case caught my eye, the same way a Renoir jumps out at you in an art museum. I bent down and read the little card: both were forged by legendary bladesmith Bill Moran. I was tempted, but decided they were out of my range, what with the additional cost of the divorce if I had bought one. If you're ever in the vicinity, drop in there. Those are my drool spots in front of the counter.

Those two Bill Moran's are still available. They're in on consignment, and the owner is motivated to sell. If you want a great deal on a piece of cutlery history, give me a shout.

My brother in law had two Morans that my sister pressured him to sell off a couple of years ago when she began to understand the kind of money they were worth. Both sold for about 10K each.

I'm not sure if he favored it over other style blades, but I think that he considered the Rio Grande Spearpoint to be the strongest blade design of the knives that he made.

Jim if I may ask is the your spear point also ?

You have an awesome collection my friend
