Hi guys. I usually collect mint USA Schrade knives because A.) they are good knives! and B.) they fit my knife collecting budget. Fate smiled on me and something extra special is coming my way. I just purchased a Bill Ruple trapper but I haven't received it yet. I haven't seen any more pics of it than I am posting here.
It is stamped "A97" on the pile side and I am wondering what this means. I'm told this knife was originally purchased at a knife show in Las Vegas in the late '90s. I am wondering if this is a date code. 1st quarter of 1997 perhaps? Is it a model number? Any help will be much appreciated!
When I get the knife I am going to photograph it and hopefully get in touch with Mr. Ruple to see if he can remember any details regarding the knife such as the type of steel used etc. Does anyone have contact info for Bill Ruple?
I haven't even seen the filework yet but I have a feeling it's going to be some flavor of "really nice". The pics are a tease...
