I am in the process of buying one of these 13" O/A, 8" blade, kydex sheath. This will be my first custom knife. The simple pattern, 5160 steel, and price all added up to me saying gotta get it

. Anyone have any opinions,on this knife. It is to be a grad gift for my son,who after another year of High school plans on becoming a member of Canada's military. He makes dad proud.

Cheers

While I know nothing of his work personally, I have looked at it on the web and it appears to be a solid good working knife. I like 5160 in large knives myself and suspect that knife will provide a lot of good service to your son.

Stay Sharp,
Sid

Well, since I'm the one selling it, I may be a little biased

But I think your son will have an excellent field blade to take with him. I have used the smaller Utility model, and it's a real workhorse. The knives are ruggedly good looking, and %100 work blades. No frills, nothing that doesn't belong. Once more people see his work, the prices will jump up I'm sure. I'd love to hear a review from your son once he gets to use it!

Hey Mr. TNC4EVR

, I sent you out the MO today. I was thinking of putting this knife away for the next bit but maybe this dad will have to try it out

Sid, What is it you like about 5160 steel for big blades? I'm thinking it must be easy to sharpen but that is my knowledge level.

Boy since getting hooked on bladeforums, I have got a MOD hornet, ordered a Busse BM ( for my working knife) and now a custom. Does the madness stop :0 ? Next up ... an HI khurki

Cheers
Ken
