Well, not all of us exactly, but Bill and Jim were represented in the knives me and E were playing with today.

This is gonna be kind of an involved post, so, I wanna get it all done before I let the comments start.

I went to Uncle Weirdbeard's to do a site survey, and brainstorm about the up and coming Gathering. Lemme tell ya, thing look great, and its gonna be one of the best one's we've had yet. No pictures, I want ya'll to be surprised when you get there.

Anyway, on with the knives.

Bill Siegle Jungle Knife

Oh boy, ya'll know I likes me some big knives, and this one is a doozy. E called me the other day, "HOLY SHIT!!!! You gotta see this thing. We gotta go play with this knife, when you coming down again?":D

SO, today was the day. First off, I like simple and plain. And the austere looks of this knife makes it a marvelous blade. No frills, no thrills, just plain old, badass.

Uncle WeirdBeard chose some spring poplar as a fun tester. It ain't seasoned hardwood, but it sure was fun to play with.

And me gettin' some. Sorry for the weird buzz and funky "walleye" effect, my phone decided to get all crazy. Still a good vid, but overlook the buzzin'.

I'm currently in negotiations to get one.

BKT BK16 Modded by Moose

We played with my saber ground BK16 some. Mods include, stripped, squared spine, micarta handles, clear plastic liners, and my personal edge.

Cool thread Moose. I've been smellin' an Ethan Becker/Bill Siegle collab for awhile now. BTW, when you get tired of that 16, send it this way. ;)

Nope, that one stays with me. No other like it in the world, I assure you. :D

Did you notice my perfect form when I was swingin' that Siegle? Not bad for someone that was running a high fever just a mere 9hrs earlier. :D

That Crowell bushcrafter looks like one I'd be after. Do you know what type of steel he used?

Nice! Are those going to be fondle-able at the gathering? The walleye camera affect looks kind of like being drunk and trying to look at small things. That JC Bushcrafter looks like a must see.

Hey Everybody.....

Internet has been down......Just got it back......Last couple of hours I got the final grade and raking done at the Beckerhead Camp........I am not sure about steels on either blades......As you all know I am pretty ok with a bunch of steels...Hopefully Bill will chime in and tell me what I bought.......The Crowell is sharppp......Edge geometry is freaking awesome.....Almost shaved me beard just for the feels......But if you slip with this one there WILL BE BLOOD......Lots of blood.......

Great little blade...Very flat and thus compact.....Good size, comfy in the hand and very fine geometry, typical Crowell ....
simple elegance that does exactly what it is intended to do and a whole bunch more......Oh, great fit and finish as well.....

Mr. Siegle has made me a very lovely blade, great balance, superior edge geometry, sturdy beyond the rational and a handle that is long enough to shift balance to switch nicely from chopping to quite fine work........A do it all and do it all damn well blade.....I am a verrry happy camper......Feels REALLY good in the hand and when you whack something it is WHACKED, and whacked good.......Moose drooled all over the blade and it was hard to get the grin off his face....

Remind me that we all need to run these blades around the log Next weekend....Definitely worth a cut and whittle or two or three......

Oh, there is a second Crowell we did not take pics of, mayhaps we can do a group review next weekend.....

All best....

Ethan

Cool pics and videos! Glad to see the Jungle Knife getting used :) I made it out of 5160 with a differential heat treat. I came up with the design after finding an Asian blade at a knife show and I beefed up the design a little to suit me. I think it's a nice general purpose camp knife. Love the Crowell blade too! I am a big fan of his work since seeing it in an old Gung Ho magazine way back when.

That Siegle knife looks INSANE! Looks like it would definately take a limb off...and I ain't talking about trees.

Did Moose have a vibrator in his pocket when he was chopping or something? That knife should have given you all the thrill you need without extra appliances.

Hey Bill....

This is probably the first 5160 blade I own that will be used a lot so it will be interesting from several stand points.....This is a really nice blade.....Everything done right.......Many many thanks.....

All Best.......
