Hi. I have a set of binoculars I'd like to leave in the glove box of the car.

Does anyone here have any experience as to whether the heat of summer or cold of winter can affect the lenses in a negative way?

I've had no prob keeping a monocular in the car. I suspect that the biggest enemy may be condensation.

I've kept my Nikon Sportstar binoculars in my truck for years. Michigan Winters and Summers.

I keep a monocular. Very handy. And no problems over the years.

I have pair of Pentax UCF 8x24 binoculars that stayed in the car ofr +/- 20 years. One very hot day I went to use them and the rubber covering was slimy and crumbly at the same time. It all came off in my hands. That could have been age, or the heat. or both combined. I pulled it all off, cleaned carefully and then put some grippy carpet tape over the binos where the rubbery stuff had been. The eye cups were fine, as were the optics.
