I went on a little snowshoeing trip and found a dead, upright birch tree and decided to use my new Condor 18" eco-light machete to harvest some bark.
Since the machete didn't come with a sheath, I figured I'd make one out of the birch bark. Details: Sandwich construction with 2 outer layers and an inner blade-spacer layer. Glued together with contact cement (not natural, I know, but made it much easier as it held it together during the sewing). Sewed using hemp string and sealed with beeswax and tung oil. Took about 2 hrs to make.
