Another saber grind puukko with two alternating types of bark.


Steel - Elmax 60-61 HRC.
OAL - 238 mm (~9.4")
Blade - 116Х23Х3.8mm (~4.5x0.9x0.15") flat grind with micro secondary bevel
Blade finish - p 800
Handle - birch bark and bronze
Leather sheath with wooden inlay
weight with/without sheath 141/190 grams

Grouser1741 - Yes it's similar to the leather stacked handle , only here you don't use glue , but instead you heat it up when it's stacked and peened and since the bark is full of natural resin , the layers stick to each other. Also because of the resin , the handle doesn't absorb water and doesn't need to be impregnated with oils . And when you grind it it smells like cookies and when you grind the leather it smells like death :D

Does it kill the tree, or limb when harvesting?
 
No problem , I like sharing and talking about my trade. I gather my bark from dead trees or branches. I looked for some videos on youtube , but they are all gathering bark from live trees. I am not sure if there is a way to take the bark without harming the tree.
