Birch range//paper birch

Whole native bands existed soley because of this tree and all it provides.

Mother natures toolbox and garden.

Nor any here in Tennessee that I am aware of, except in a few suburban yards. I wonder if tree-napping is a class II felony? If we had them here, I'd certainly have made use of them. The deerskin canoe I made way back when would most certainly have been birch bark, and a lot of time would have been saved making in-field berry containers. BTW, skin boats are expedient, but may not be worth the trouble!

I am no green thumb, I wonder what soil and temp conditions the Birch needs? Interesting if you could transplant a few in your yard.
