A true delight working on this one. Love it when the colors, design and finish all come together.

Wonderful knife! I love the contoured handle. I bet it makes chores in the kitchen fun.

You took the words right out of my mouth. ;) :D :D If I may paraphrase you, "It all comes together so-o-o-o sweetly on this one!!" :D

What is the blade length? Eyeballing the blade, it looks in the 6-inch range. But my eyes are old enough that I don't trust 'em any more than I do my memory. ;)

What a pleasure for the eyes and hand. Congrats on such nice workmanship!

Daniel, looks good. I wish I could handle it. Sometimes contoured handle really work on a chefs knife sometimes they don't. I do like the bird beak. It's a great help in controlling the tip.
Great job on the spacers. crisp, clean and even. That's not easy to do. I've never heard of stabilized mulberry. What's its weight compare to...light like maple or heavy like iron wood?
Looks like you really enjoyed yourself while making this one. Nice pics too.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. This was a pleasure project for me.

The santoku is 11" overall, 6.5" blade. (stats in the pic)

Rob - if you want a cleaver, you got it. :D Give me a month to get my shop back in action (moving to another state at the end of this week).

Stabilized woods end up all being about the same weight. If it's a lighter wood, it'll soak up more resin; if it's denser, less. That said, I'd place this one smack in the middle. Heavier than the stabilized maple I've used, but not as heavy as ironwood, etc.

Thanks Dan, I was wondering how much stabliszing would affect the weight of the base wood.

Thanks Dan. Didn't even see what was right in front of my eyes! Now you know why I don't trust 'em. ;) Time for a new prescription on my glasses.
