In my other thread, A Shoot with tedwca, many seemed to enjoy bird pictures and discussion... so, I thought that, perhaps, a thread dedicated to sharing bird pics and discussion would be nice.

Here's a female Anna's hummingbird in flight:

I hope you enjoy.

Let's see yours.

Very nice Mike. Let's see some of the pelicans and the egrets, and .... Well, you know :)

Thanks for posting these, they are great.

That is one heck of an act to follow...:D

These were taken in Moultrie Creek in Saint Augustine,Florida.
Not sure what they are, probably terns...

I can only hope that my lack of talent will inspire others to share.:)

Thanks for sharing them, Mark.

I think they're tricolored herons. They're definitely not terns.

WOW
You guys are awesome!! Those photos are inspiring.
Here is a shot of a hummingbird at one of our feeders.

Mike, love those shots. You da MAN!!

AA, nice shots. Thanks for sharing.

Archangel, Ted, and Yangdu,

Thanks!

Archangel,

Thanks for sharing yours.

Ted,

You, too. I love your people pics & knife pics.

I'm going back to Half Moon Bay, today. Conditions are perfect. :)

Ted,

I still enjoy shooting weddings. Brides are so lovely. The ceremony still chokes me up. Plus, there's so much emotion and interaction to photograph.

I might just have to start a wedding photography thread... :D

Anyway, back to birds...

Here's a long eared owl, staring at me:

By the way, the shoot, yesterday, went really well. I still want to go back and shoot here, some more, though.

When doves can't quite fit on the feeder:

Mike

Doves are supposed to be a bird of peace or at least are represented as so in most cultures I know about.
But they are some of the orneriest birds I have ever seen and display mean and bullying manners. When we were able to feed the wild birds we had so many and so many kinds it was hard to figure out just how many species we had in our backyard.
The doves were even worse than the cowbirds bout intimidating their own and other species.
It was funny when they would intimidate the cowbirds especially since the cowbirds were such bullies themselves.:D
I never would hunt doves when I was young but had I have known then what I know about them now I would have hunted them with glee!!!!;) :D

Wow, that hummingbird picture is outstanding, Mike. Very very nice.

I can't help but laugh at the photo of the egret and its lunch. The look on the vole's (or whatever it is) face just strikes me as comical. Does that make me a bad person? Probably, but it's still a great photo.

H2OCutter,

Did that hummingbird fall out of a nest? Did you rescue it?

Hi Evolute,
it did indeed fall from a nest, and we rescued it. Got the whole family involved as well as the neighbors. Set up a little sanctuary outside on one of the window sills and before long mom and baby were back together, here are a couple more pix. He eventually flew off but buzzes over every now and then, Likes to come up on me while I'm water the roses:cool: hovers right next to me then buzzes off. We ended up naming him Turbo, cute little guy.
