First scabbard in is by Terry Sisco and it is a very decent one as you can see for yourself. The BirGorkha Bowie (not marked but made by Sanu and he has one of the best finishes on this knife that I've seen come out of BirGorkha to date) fits into the scabbard perfectly.

When all the scabbards arrive I'll ship them to BirGorkha and let the sarkis do a little weeping and then make a choice.

The knife is for sale but not the scabbard. You can have knife alone for $125 and Terry will make you a scabbard for it at whatever his cost might be.

Call or email if interested.

Better yet, Bill, tell Pala and Gelbu to show it ( the sheathe ) around to all the kamis and tell them you didn't like the job the local sarkis did so you had an american one do this one. Let all the kamis see how nice a job the american sarki did.

Then maybe they'll wake up in a sweat one night thinking - if they have american sarkis, maybe they have american kamis?

Think that might help quality control?

I think Rusty is dead on. That scabbard is going to put a scare in the sarkis when I suggest that khukuris be sent over without scabbard and US sarkis will manufacture scabbards here.

Uncle Bill, be sure to tell them that the US sarki is just learning how to do this...

Yeah. Then after the sarkis are all shook up, swipe the picture of Terry forging a khuk that's on his website and e-mail to have Gelbu put it up on the customer board. Identifying him as the american sarki whose work they saw.

Pretty soon one of the kamis will ask what he's doing working a forge, and Gelbu can honestly tell them Terry's dad is giving him tips on forging a khukuri. Bet that will be the quietest anyone has ever heard the shop.

Nice ideas, Rusty. Maybe I'll save the pix and take them over next trip -- maybe this winter. I want to see the reaction when I post the pix on the customer bulletin board and tell the story!

It most certainly is an improvement on the original one I have!!

The thing is though that I personally don't like straps and snaps, for me it's not if the dayum-ed thang is gonna get cut, but when, But..... whats a feller to do when that is the easiest and simplest way to hold a knife in a scabbard?
