Does a BirGorkha Kothimoda is as robust than an Ang Khola? Yes? No? And why?

Regards,
Stephen.

The khukuri is made just like any other BirGorkha blade -- it's a user. Will perform about the same as an 18" WWII model. You may remember the story of me teasing Bura about the kothimoda.

I can attest to the fact that they are real users if you wanted to. I got a blem kothimoda from Uncle Bill a little while back. It is some impressive!! It is a great blade. Totally usable in hard type usage if you were so inclined. Not to mention that it took an edge like I could not believe. Hair jumped off my arm at the sight of the blade. If you had a carry sheath made for it, it would be a sweet dress carry khuk for those formal occasions. :D

Stephen I think it comes very near to being as robust as an AK.
After all it is a Dui Chiarra blade!!!!

I've long advocated a Kothimoda Blade with a regular buffalo horn or wooden handle and standard scabbard as I think it would be an excellent performer!!!!

I don't know, but it seems that Bura wants to keep the Kothimoda Blade pristine and for use on the Kothimoda only. Although I personally think it's a damned shame.:grumpy:  :(

It would be interesting to see an up-close blade comparison between the kothimoda, Berk special and Hanuman.

Funny you ask. I just posted a post in another thread (the one where Uncle Bill offers Bura's special Dhankutas - I'm getting upset again just thinking about it). It has some text I meant to post when I first got the Kothimoda. As a dummy newbie, I sense a difference . . . but to me its a positive difference, toward the Kothimoda. Try it and see. Perhaps Uncle Bill may still have some of Bura's pre-stroke Kothimoda's around (given how Bura's recent Dhankutas look, maybe the words pre-stroke and post-stroke won't be heard any more). Even though they are expensive for something that's mainly for looking at, it's worth handling one IMHO. Have fun!
