Birth date quirks.

After owning a good deal of CRKs, I've had some mildly interesting coincidences concerning the birth dates. I just noticed the other day that I currently own 5 CRKs, each from a different consecutive year from 2007-2011. Two of them (a small Sebenza and a Mnandi) have the same day (Nov 30) from different years. Also, this is the second time that has happened. I used to have two different knives (also a small Sebenza and a Mnandi) that had the same day from different years.

I ruined the streak though when I sold my 2012 small Starbenza. I missed it so I have another small Starbenza in the mail to me as we speak, but it is a 2011. I may need to correct that mistake, haha. Anyhow, pics below. Anyone else have any mildly interesting birth date quirks come up?

Yeah, it appears that they don't ever put any knives together on April 21st ;)

I've had a pair of CRK's that shared the exact same date and I ordered them from two different places about 6 months apart(umnumzans)

I've also seen many knives produced on my bday(nov 21)

Nice knives there humblerodent!

I've got a question concerning the first sebenza you posted. The card states that there is a leather inlay an unique graphic, yet I don't see where they could have put the leather inlay. Is it on the other side?

Thanks so much!

Leather lanyard, not inlay. I suppose it came from the factory with a leather lanyard, though I am the third owner and the knife didn't come to me with it.

I was in Afghanistan, and bought a large tanto Seb on ebay. It's birthday is August 29, 2009. Over a year later, I saw another large tanto Seb at a price I couldn't pass up, this time on the exchange. It's birthday is ALSO August 29, 2009.

What are the odds?

If they did the knives in runs, I would guess pretty good. ;)

These have the same day but 4 years apart. And love how the day is written on the 96 16/7/1996. Day first then month and year.

Isn't it? I'm glad you let it go, as it's the only UG I've seen that I had to have. And I love it even more now that I've had it for a while!

I feel the same way about that knife too. It reminds me of a dream catcher... If you ever change your mind I'd love to have it back. Haha.

Not of getting 2 knives from the same batch from 2 completely different locations over a year apart. Considering they're the only 2 tantos I've ever bought, the odds of getting them from different batches was far higher.

Had it happen again with a pair of Zaans from early 2012. Bought from very different sources at very different times.

I have 3 lefty Sebenzas born on my wife's birthday (3/18) in different years. :)

My first CRK (a large lefty 21) was made one day after my birthday...:grumpy:
But, it's also Stevekolt's b-day knife (coincidentally, he's also a lefty!) and he gets first dibs if I ever need to sell it. It's been a bit of a problem child in terms of lock stick, though, and I might need to send it in again to have it serviced or parts replaced.

I try like heck to avoid responding to old posts, but you're still here and the topic is still relevant - I have a pair of Umnumzaans that are basically the same case. Same date, different vendors on opposite sides of the country, purchased 6-9 months apart. Wild!

That's also wild. Maybe they only build Umnumzaans two or three days a year... ;) :D
