Thanks to the most gracious and unselfish offer of Mr. Yip Choy, Yangdu has agreed to offer copies of his incredible "Birth of a Khukri" portrait.
Here's what it looks like for those who may have missed it.

Here's how it works. All you have to do is send a donation to Yangdu for the Kami relief fund which as you can well imagine is very much depleted after the earthquake and bad things going on in Nepal. Add to that several illness's amongst the kami's and sarki's and well the funds gotta be low.

Then send an email to Alan via the forum, his email is activated so anyone should be able to send one.
Provide him with the email address of your local office supply or hobby shop, Fed Ex, lots of places that offer printing services.

He will then email a high resolution copy to the print shop.
The original is 16.35" x 22" at 300 DPI, now I'm no expert on what a DPI is but I think it's like high resolution.
He says anything smaller or up to the original size will print beautifully. Anything larger will become pixelated and I for one wouldn't wish that on anybody. Ok I don't have a clue what pixelated means, distorted maybe?

The cost on your end depends on size, quality of the paper and the frame. Actually the frame isn't even mandatory, a person could make their own or whatever.

I went with the full size and the frame was like 10 or 15 bucks, I'm sure a person could spend way more but the one I got works great.

Auntie insist that you determine how much donation you want to make, so no minimum, whatever you wish. This is on the honor system, you needed show proof of any kind to Mr. Yip Choy.

You can just put in the comments that its for the kami relief fund and portrait.
There's nothing in this for Mr. Yip Choy unfortunately except our gratitude.

If anyone has trouble getting through to Alan, let me know and I'll act as middle man.

I think every Khukri collection deserves to have a copy of this portrait nearby. It's quite impressive.
I thought I had a picture of mine hanging up but gosh durned if I can find it now.

So there you have it, easy peasy. Get on the keyboard and get yours today.

Operators are NOT standing by but they'll be along shortly.

Alan's work is outstanding. I have a copy of this and must say that it is excellent. Do yourself a favor and send Mrs. Martino mucho dinars or what you can spare without hurting yourself. You can help the kamis & sarkis, and help yourself at the same time.

That picture is just an amazing compilation of everything that goes into a khukuri. I spot a Mercedes truck (possibly missing its leaf springs), a water buffalo, and I think that's even a satisal wood tree there in the background! And of course the kami and his forge.

What a great fundraiser! You know I am in. I think this will make a great backdrop in my display cabinet.

Would like donate myself....direct me please to make the donation...hope everyting will be better in Nepal.
240- 300 Dpi would be good, Jpg loose a lot of detail every time it is save.
Better if he can save it to PNG, need a program to open it though...

I'll definitely be checking to see what I can donate. Now I just need a khukuri display to hang it above..

Hi Khukri82us,
thanks for your generosity. Just send me the contact info on your local printer/Fedex/Kinkos/Office Depot and I will send the file or if you have a printer, I can send it to you.
All the best,
Alan
