Birthday gift for a buddy

Hey folks,

My longtime pal is having a birthday soon, and to some it's a supposedly important one. He'll be turning 30, and for an interesting twist, so will I. Same birthdays, fast friends, etc.

Anyway, I'd like to get him a blade to mark the occasion. He's not a knife guy, but is definitely a man that appreciates quality when he sees it. Here's what I would like to see:

Folder!
3" or less (absolutely no more, city laws for him)
Manual deployment preferred
Carbon Fiber aesthetics (car guy, he'll like that)
I'll consider any lock type
Prefer stainless blade steel
$200 max

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
-Chuck

Honestly, I spent way too long thinking about this and my answer is simple (after I recently handled one - but didn't buy it):

Whilst the Sage 1 is Carbon fibre (which I do own), the Spyderco Sage 2 is much, much nicer;

I am pretty sure that he'd love it...

Spyderco Chaparral, Gayle Bradley Air, and add a Matt Martin pen in Copper. Though techno is a good knife, I find it too thick for edc.

The Spyderco Sage sounds perfect, and at 3" is ideal. The Spyderco Caly 3 CF also comes to mind....

The Spyderco Chaparral or even something real suave like a ceramic Boker Anti Grav for only around $60?

edit: just checked and the Boker is 3 1/4" blade length. Sorry.

Just a thought since he's a car guy and not a knife guy maybe a multi-tool. The Skeletool CX by leatherman would fit the bill. Knife, pliers, screwdriver all decent materials and some carbon fiber as well.

A couple smaller CF scale'd blades under your price

Spyderco Sage 1 & Chaparral
Enzo Birk #75 (they have a non-locking version but it can be harder to find)
Spyderco GB Air

Caly 3 CF/Zdp. Great knife. My birthday is next week, but no knives for me :( Family thinks I have too many.

Would also say enzo birk. It's very nice and not one everybody has like spyderco's.

Sage 1 or 2, but not everyone likes the feel of plain Ti so I'd say Sage 1.

Gayle Bradley Air actually isn't a bad choice.
