For me..My GF Ahem, Fiance.. :D needs to buy me something, and besides about 100 knives, I can't think of anything, but I want it to be Cheap. I just can't think of anything that isn't $75+. any cool cheap gifts that you've recieved lately?

Happy Birthday Dijos! Would you like 1 item for the money or some different variety types of things? I can think of 2 manufactured items like the good Gerber Gator or Multi-tool for around that price. Just a thought. Hope it's a nice one too. :)

Do I understand this, you pick out gifts for your fiance to buy you? In theory that sounds very good, but for me the best part of getting gifts is the suprise. My wife hawk-eyes the catalogs and mailings I receive, paying attention to which pages are dog-eared and which pages I look at the longest, but always on the sly. Then, sure as heck, every time I get a present it's something I wanted out of one of those catalogs, usually just the thing I wanted but can't afford to buy myself.

Wife bought me a new Filson billfold for our anniversary last week - I think she was embarrased when I'd pull out my old wallet at a restraunt. :)
Last year she gave me a Citizen Eco-Drive watch - that may be out of your requested price range though.
Tools are always cool to get. Carpentry, masonry, wrenches and pliars, power tools, tool boxes, etc. Plenty of choices, most well under $75.
Most times though, she only gets me knives! She's GREAT!

How about a briefcase or work bag from Duluth Trading? These are very cool and manly: http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/organizers/other_organizers/96520.aspx
The Bucket-Boss products make nice gifts too: http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/organizers/bucketboss_organizers/bucketboss_organizers.aspx?T22GOOG2
Do you have a motorcycle or truck? I wouldn't mind getting truck or bike accessories.
Computer software, music, or movies?

Just tossing out ideas,
-Bob

A few suggestions:

Tools are always good - Makita cordless drill and/or sander; A good bench vise; Drill Press, etc.

My wife has a great ear for music and manages to find me some really good/obscure vinyl from time to time.

A nice new wallet

Nice socks

Fun camping gear (folding rocking chair, air mattress, lanterns, cook stove, headlamps, etc.)

Bar tools (martini shakers, good Rabbit-style wine openers, pilsner glasses, etc.)

How about a nice bottle of scotch? $50 can get you some very nice stuff.

Are there any pens that you are interested in? A watch? Any flashlights trip your trigger?

Received the new Lee Valley mini-catalog in the mail today - some great, inexpensive gifts in there. There's a CD in there that I think I'll get for my Dad - all the "instruments" used to make the music are TOOLS!

My birthday present this year was just £120. She gave birth 2 days before my birthday and was not in the mood to go shopping before that. So i told her i'll just put it in my savings for my next nice watch.

Me and the mrs also have an agreement. We save up £10 a month and for our birthdays we can't spend more than £120. If there's something she really really wants that's over the limit then she can top it up herself. hehehe...

So far i think my preferred pressie is just money. She refuses to buy me knives or torchlights 'cos she thinks i have enough. I told her i wanted some Filson stuff but she said it's too expensive and she doesn't feel like calling 'em up 'cos it will have to be an international order.

I can't win with her. She refuses to buy stuff that i like 'cos she doesn't like 'em. Although the truth is i already have almost everything i need.

Here is a nice flashlight "set" to ponder:

Streamlight Twin Task 3C in silver.
Streamlight Twin Task 1 or 2 cell lithium in silver.

How about sharpeners? Got an x-coarse diamond (what I'm hoping for next week)?

Keychain multi-tool like a LM Micra?

Need a new belt?

Magnesium firestarter?

Axe or saw if you do any camping?

Sunglasses?

Food is a GREAT gift when you're not really sure- you eat it once and then it's gone. If you hated it, at least it's not around any more.

The two best gift items I have received that would probably fall under $75 are

1. A Peak LED solutins McKinley 7LED flashlight in stainless steel. I carry it everywhere with me, I think its the ideal EDC flashlight (for me at least) http://www.peakledsolutions.com/CR123SS.html

2. A Fisher Astronaut space pen (the one with the button on the side used on the Apollo missions) That always gets looks from people when I use it in meetings because its such a distinctive style but I've never seen anyone else with one in the UK (I had to wait weeks for it to be shipped over)

I'm ashamed to say, like you, I chose them both myself :o

Well I just got a Ti Spork which I'm in love with. Other cool items are Lamy and Rotring pens, Ti credit card knife, Inova, Surefire, Peak LED Solutions lights, computer peripherals, music, Atwood prybaby, etc.

Since Flashlights have already been mentioned, how about a custom sheath? You two can decide on what it will look like together, and it will really mean something.
If you decide on a flashlight, there's lots of great ones out there, Innova is very good, but don't discount the less expensive imports. Do some homework, check out eBay, so you will get the most bang for your buck.

If you're an outdoors type maybe you can find some frog togs for under $75.
It's great rain gear.

Kershaw Outcast.. i mean, it's really a Camp Tool, right?

D2, under 75$, doesn't suck, and if you don't like it ..

I'll buy it from you at a very moderate discount. :D
