so my family is celebrating my birthday in two weekends and I was asked today from my wifes sister what I would like.

I was hoping you all could help me with ideas. Any cool high value knives I should try? Are there any new edc gadgets out there I'm most likely missing out on?

I'd like to keep my request to under $30. I'd like to be able to send a direct link to the product so it's easy for her to find it.

I dont have any real needs knife or gadget wise. I appriciate your suggestions!

Civivi and Kizer made a budget-budget brand lol, Sencut and Tangram respectively. Give them a look! All else fails just get a Rat, although I think you might already own one haha.

Cant beat a victorinox, but how about you ask them to stretch the budget a little and get a leatherman bond or wingman?

How about the indestructible Mora Robust? I've given more of this guy away than any other knife (about 8 :D)

Ask for cash and create a collaborative spending stash from all your friends and family? I don't know. I didn't even know what to ask for for my own bday last month. Just hope you have a great birthday brother.
 
I've got a mental list of cheaper knives to try out/ back up/ maybe mod, tried to keep it in your price range, probably forgot several good options:

folders- Ka-Bar Dozier, Douk- Douk, Mercator Black Cat, Opinel, Okapi, Svord Peasant, Mam, a cheap Otter (I hope), several Case, Bear, Utica, SAK (need another Waiter), and the Ontario Rat gets good reviews (not for me, thanks);

fixed- yet another good basic machete, Opinel paring knives, Vic Fibrox, small Vic rosewood, most Moras, small Shun Wasabi, AG Russell Woodswalker or Hunter's Scalpel (or a used underpriced Deer Hunter if you're lucky), R Murphy, Buck PakLite and BuckLite, Hultafors...

smaller sharpening stones, small DMT diamonds.

All that said, the SMKW Trash Panda SAK Owen K. posted looks awesome, and I'm off to check on the sasquatch versions Kiteman mentioned. Happy Birthday!
 
Happy birthday bud. Maybe check out an Old Hickory 14” butcher, I think this one was like $17. For $30 you could also grab the sticker and still have some money left over. These are my go to pair for when I need to play Magua.

Oh man I just remembered, the DLT Warthog Rambler is also under $30 and would be pretty sweet.

Steel Will Intrigue, D2 steel flipper at KnifeCenter for $43. Excellent flat grind, good flipper, sound lockup, fine edge. I got one for my bday and have been happy with it for 11/2 years
