Mrs Pit told me I have to do the housework tomorrow so I knew that if I wanted to do a tough hike it would have to be today.
So for breakfast I loaded up with some Bison sausage, eggs and tomato...that should put some lead in my pencil !!!!

I checked out the sign at the start of the trail......yeah, yeah I was full of Bison, how tough can a hike be !

I then looked up at my destination...

The route wouldn't be so bad if the trail was smooth but it was loose and gnarly nearly all the way up !

If it wasn't loose rock it was exposed roots !

The forest had a magical appearance to it !

We were making good progress but still had a ways to go...

As we got higher the trail became a little iffy in places, Snicker was like a mountain goat but Maisy needed a helping shove up some of the steeper sections.....

There were some great views from up at the top...

Snicker could have done the climb ten times over !

Maisy needed some snacks to replace her energy, LOL !

I'd travelled pretty light today, this was all the equipment I'd taken...

After a few swallows of water it was time to head back down. As my legs were now like jelly going down was more difficult than going up. I even managed to wander off trail twice and find myself on some nasty looking drops !

A few more pics....

This is the nasty view looking the other way as I went up, when I first came up here 5 years ago hardly any of this was here, it was still mostly forest !

And finally a pic of the river back down at the bottom, Maisy was glad of the chance to cool her paws down in here !

Nice looking area, I love the rocky terrain  And that river looks like it needs some exploring too!

Beautiful country, I wish the Yankees would bring some moutains with them when they move here (Florida). PS. I am originally from Pennsylvania no offense against yankees.

Cool pictures

I'm worn out just looking at them!

Nice, I'm jellos. I am dieing to get out west. That terrain looks a lot like my area. I've got some trails like that here, too. It's kind of like climbing a mountain in a creek bed. The exposed roots can be just as bad as the loose rocks. Can be worse coming down, too. Slippery sometimes. Now you got me wanting to do Chimney Tops again! When I do it, I'll take some picks for you. What was your mileage on that one?

It's not far at all buddy, just darn steep. Took me about 2 hrs to go up and down.
I look forward to the pics of the Chimney tops, thanks !

Yeah, I know how the steepness goes. Chimneys are a 2000' rise in less than 2 miles, with a tad of light duty rock climbing to get to the summit.

My knees ached just looking at that hike. Good stuffe, Pit, good stuffe. Kudos on the summit, as well, looked tough.

How ya liking that one Mike, is it the one from Mark ?

it is indeed from Mark.. and i am loving it...:) hopefully i can make a sheath for it in the next few weeks..

What's ya thoughts on the full tang Mora idea, I'm thinking a knife even thinner than 1/8" would be cool ?

Pit old buddy, I was trying to find the Ben-Gay for my knees just looking at those shots. Gorgeous hills & water country you have around you in all your pics, great time to get outdoors & especially taking your "guides" with you.
Thanks for showing us your back yard . . .
Be safe.

i like it a lot.. it is light and agile in the hand.. though i prefer knives in 1/8 thick stock, a 3/32 version would be a wicked slicer..
