Sometimes I carry a Calypso Jr. clipped to my right front pocket. The way the Calypso Jr. is designed, the "bump" above the Spyder hole on which your thumb rests, is just a little bit sharp. Not knife-edge sharp, but it does come with somewhat of an edge. In fact, when my wife borrows the knife, it takes her a moment to decide which edge to cut with--not much of a knife person but she does appreciate the sharp edge one she begins to cut!
When I carry the Calypso Jr. in a pair of pants with a vertical pocket edges, say like dockers or dress pants, as opposed to jeans with hortizontal pockets, and I reach into my pocket get something at the bottom of the pocket, my wrist scrapes up against the pointy thumb rest. Well last week I finally got nicked. I wasn't paying too much attention and quickly reached deep into the pocket and the pointy thumbrest scrapped by wrist at the ulna (I think that's the name of the bone in the outside of the wrist) and drew blood.
Has anyone else had this experience?
Some of the other smaller Spydercos, for example the Dragonfly, seem to be similarly designed, whereas the larger blades have a rounded thumbrest.
Regards,
David
