Bit by the traditional bug

I started reading more and more posts in the traditionals area. I am learning a lot. So I had to find out for myself. And I'm glad I did.

I've started with a Case Peanut and Buck Companion.

After ordering these I went by a big box store and picked 2 other Bucks, a Small Stockman and Solo. They are stamped China, but since the two were less than $20 I am using them to get more practice at free hand sharpening. And, I need the practice. I would rather make a mistake on these than on my new Peanut or one of the others.

I think I have been bit pretty good. I already have a couple more in the mail :D

Welcome to the club,I love your taste in Peanuts!:thumbup:That Buck Copanion is really nice too.I'm just partial to the Case Peanuts, thanks to Carl.

Can relate to that as the traditional bug bit me hard about 6 months ago. A few customs later I realized how hooked I am. Have stuck to Case production knives only in some hope of limiting the damage (Hah!)

Carl seems to have gotten to a few of us. Especially with his thread Care and feeding of peanuts.

Great selection of small using pocket knives, Chevy.:thumbup::thumbup:

Don't be afraid of using the heck out of them, especially the Bucks. If my old buddy Wayne is any standard of knife quality, the Buck Companion is a rugged little knife. It took Wayne 20 years to wear out a 309, and his new 309 looks like it's even made stronger than his old Camillus made companion. In general, the 300 series Bucks are the Sherman tanks of the pocket knife world. I leaned on an old 301 for 25 years, and it never failed. Great knives!

The peanuts ain't no slouch either.:)

Carl.

I too have been bitten by the traditionals bug. It started with a sodbuster jr. in cv and went from there. I just got a swayback jack in cv that's fast becoming my favorite. The traditionals just seem to have more character than one hand tacticools.

Soon every morning when you are trying to decide what knife to carry, it becomes a life of or death decision. And you will end up like me, toting 3 or four knives on you. :/

I have both the companion and the peanut in yellow, and as much as I try to like the buck, it just doesn't feel as good to me as the peanut. YMMV. Great knives, all of them.
